I'm starting this thread for people that have thoughts and curiosities about the Mass Effect universe, and what you fantasize about.  I believe that people have the "what if" go through their head, if it were a reality.  Questions and theories like "How would inter-species romance work?", "How does each species reproduce?", "What is each species anatomical makeup?", and "What do they look like under all that armor?" are questions that I would like to start discussions on.

Many people fantasize, and I want to bring that into light and have a place for questions, answers, thoughts and theories.  If you have something to contribute, like facts you have learned or questions that you haven't asked because they might not be socially acceptable to everyone, please share.

Don't be shy, this is a place for open minds, so ask or share anything that you've wondered about or have discovered.  You never know if some day the human race will be faced with the possibility of inter-species cohabitation and procreation, so starting in a theoretical environment that was ingeniously created with such incredible detail isn't that "out there" if you think about it.

The only thing I want to make clear is that everyone be respectful of others, this is not the place for people to judge, bash, or solicit. Discrimination, bigotry and/or sexual solicitations are not welcome, if you want a date or hate group, go somewhere else, there are plenty of other sites for that kind of bs.  Thank you!

With the exception of the asari, I cannot think of a race (or species, whatever) that can certainly reproduce with the humans. It also seems unlikely that either the turians, salarians, or krogan can multiply given the fact that that turians have dextro-DNA, and the salarians and the krogan lay eggs. Ofcourse we have no way te be certain since genetic modification in the year 2183 is quite advanced.

True that we couldn't begin to comprehend all the genetic advancement in a year of 2168.

In the Citadel DLC, Wrex actually mentions why the 2 bags of ice.  He mutters,"Oh right, your species only has one."  I have not heard anyone mention this with any of the dialogue options in the forums and wonder whether this is dialogue that only happens on a completely random basis.  It is interesting, and it kinda makes sense that they would have multiple sex organs considering their species has a mass reproduction line.

I also have never seen and wonder if turians have tongues.  I'm guessing yes, because of the reverberation in their voices, but what would it look like, what color would it be, and how long would it be?  Humans evolved from apes, would turians have evolved from an ape-like mammal or more bird or serpent?  Theories anyone?

those were just random thoughts that poped up when playing

Interesting, I've never heard that line from Wrex. He probably only mentions it to a male Shepard then. Admittedly, I've never went through that scene with my male Sheps because I thought there wouldn't be any differences between the lines, but what do you know. I learn something new about this game every time.

I never really thought about it, but I guess it made sense he needed two ice bags, haha. After all, it's mentioned several times that Krogan have two sets of vital organs. So they have two of, eh, those as well.

My thoughts exactly! How do they do anything? Like delicate manual work? I seriously need to know. The only thing I can think of would be that their technology must significantly differ from everybody else's based on the fact they don't have fingers.

HA i know right, and even if they could do delicate manual work and have very different technologies how the hell they would get the basics done? like melt metals for example or invent electricity they would just electrocute themselves and without those basics no technological advancements can be made

Yep, this is the scene I always get with femshep, but Wrex never says anything about our species having "only one" or anything like that, nor does he explain needing two icebags (though I always figured it was for his "quad"). I've watched it twice to check.

I've only played through with the femshep.  I haven't gone through with maleshep yet, because I still want to do all the different classes with femshep first.

I couldn't find the exact quote after it happened, but it was soooo funny, and totally unexpected.  I just wondered if anyone else got the "only has one" part.

I don't know why, but that line does sound familiar. Perhaps it's another scene in the game? And yeah, I love all scenes with Wrex post-Tuchanka.

We know for certain that the Protheans were involved in getting the hanar so far. It would look far-fetched indeed if they'd achieved a technological society on their own considering their form and natural habitat. What that assistance from the Protheans was though is still a mystery. Did it include technology that the Reapers missed? Knowledge of things they'd never have been able to work out themselves but could eventually work out how to do, even with a lot of difficulty?

Do we know anything else about their history? One more plausible idea would be that the Protheans somehow gave them intelligence but someone else such as the asari found them intelligent but non-technological, and they gained technology from them.

well from what i remember like with asari they only taught them the basics like math etc so it would be similar with hanar only basic which is a bit far off space stage. i mean i remember that there are prothean ruins on their planet (codex) and so they could try to extract information from beacons, but then to use them you need some sort of console to access information (so a computer basically) and they wouldn't really be able to invent one in my opinion just because well how would they melt metal or invent electricity as i mentioned before.

and ooh the second point could be it i mean it makes sense. but then ts all conspiracy theories xD

You need a console to access them like asari or humans do, but Protheans stored and retrieved data differently. As far as we know, the usual method for a beacon to operate is more like the one on Eden Prime  in ME 1. Javik´s mail in ME 3 mentions something like "oh my, I have to type words?"

Seriously, though. I would love to see different alien species to have different kinds of technology. I'm sure technology spreads around in Milky Way, but I still think that aliens like elcor and hanar would need something to accommodate their physical forms. And how come hanar don't mind being on dry land the whole time? I would also like to see some alien furniture in places they hang out. I mean, I don't assume elcor sit on human chairs...? And the volus? It must be difficult to reach like literally everywhere for them.

Shepard and the crew walk into a bar... and everything's tiny... because it's a volus bar. Shepard awkwardly sits into a tiny chair, all cramped and uncomfortable, while trying to get info from this one patron while the crew crack jokes about it behind them.

However, I do realise this would take up time and resources, so I can, on the other hand, understand why everything's universal.

A hanar console could be something like an array of four or five different photoreceptors or so. The jellyfish put his tentacles in some kind of socket and the sequence he flashes with his bioluminescence then turns into commands or writing. Perhaps even different colors if he can vary his output by tentacle. So Red 1, Green 1, Blue 3, Violet 1, UV 1, UV 4, Red 5 turns into "This one finds our method of typing a lot better than what that one does using his fingers.

Their databases would look ehm very colorful. ;)

Do we have to move this discussion because we are not talking about make outs?

i would have though this convo would be ok tho, also imagine other species searching something in their database it would take a lot of time xD

also how the hell would hanar even recognize things like colour do they even have photoreceptor cells?

and vanilka well from what ive seen in the game elcore never sit down they just stand and well voluses have a piece of furniture called standing box ^^

Moreover im quite curious as well how the hell jellies can be on dry land?

They use patterns of bioluminescence to communicate and some Drell modify their eyes to see UV because of that.

As long as there are tentacles, we're all good. Although somebody could be so kind and explain to me how Garrus and femShep work because that's something I've had trouble wrapping my head around since the day one. I mean, humans are kind of squishy. And turians are... not so squishy. Ouch? I've looked up Mordin's advice on the topic and... definitely ouch.

Hah, true. As for elcor, I imagine they could be like giraffes. They might spend their lives standing. Man, that sounds uncomfortable.

sounds about right although it would be fun to play as one in mulitplayer it should be like a tank just strap few guns on them and let them stroll around xD

and now you made me curious vanilka how the hell would work as well (although haven't played with femshep yet)
