I hope both are ...incredible? Or at least... much better than the options in previous BW games. I don't recall tats in previous ME games, but I'd love that to be rectified this time around.

My ideal character to create might be a man who has similar tat/hair options to Jack's ME3 design.

Oh, what am I saying? That's my ideal female character design too.

Hairstyles commonly found on the folks in "Vikings" would also be cool. I'm keen on Ragnar's style. Viking space marine with tats. Lagertha's style is also splendid.

Agreed. I hope they get nuts.

Even if we are military again (I hope we're not), I don't see why fake future space military needs to adhere to the same standards that the real world does.

I wouldn't mind having tattoos for the main character

Tattoos would be nice in MEA but I am more hopeful for better hairstyles but that probably won't happen.

I completely agree. I was about to add... Why do we have to be "just like the real military"?

I need that hair and those tats.

This is asking too much, but I'd love body tat options too. You know.... a la Saints Row 4.

Jack is freaking covered in tattoos. That needs to be my space hero/ine all the way.

And in reply to the reply about textures - omg yes. No more plastic, shiny hair. Or five different versions of a buzz cut. Or that weird "painted on" hair they gave qunari in DAI. ::hurl::

An option with not only facial, but arm & body tattoos would be nice. In romance scenes, and if there are casual outfits like Vega's outfit from ME3 (or the short sleeved Alliance uniform), they could get enough screentime to justify their existence.

Saint's Row 3 and 4 are the gold standard for character creators.

I think everything should be unlocked in every game, personally.

This is going to sound stupid, but bear with me for a moment. BioWare's horrendous hair will be a make or break feature for me in the next Mass Effect.

I'm being progressively debilitated by an illness, and my income has suffered for it. All the money I used to be able to throw at hobbies is now burned on expensive medical procedures and devices. Now, for the first time since I was a teen, I have to carefully weigh each dollar I spend. Maybe next year will be easier. I hope so. We will see. Either way, my already picky view of games has gotten even pickier.

I am not yet invested in the next Mass Effect game. I won't be attached to it until the day I start playing it, getting attached to its characters. That being the case, I can take a stand now. If BioWare can't finally get their act together on the "small but crucial details" like hair, why should I continue buying their products?

We aren't playing on XBox 360 or PS3 anymore. They have no excuse, any longer. They should be embarrassed by the pretty character models of DAI running around with those plastic helmet hairstyles. It will be nothing short of disrespectful, in my opinion, if they roll out another pisspoor effort like that.

So, financial realities and technological progress, combined with a fresh start for the series, have allowed me to reassess what I require as a consumer. I will be holding BioWare to a higher standard, henceforth. Their crappy hairstyles will be some of the low-hanging fruit I'll be watching for as MEA draws near.

I hope for better hair too (expecially without balding hairline for female characters.. Really, who thought it was a good idea in DAI? Do male players even like their characters two feet from bald anyway? Why so many!!!) more moderne. Pixie styles, chin lenght, half short half chin lengh, with bangs, spiky...there are so many ways to have feminine but short harstyles! Why BioWare Always choose the most ugly examples for short hairstyles?!
And I'd really hate if again the only good hairstyle is locked only for the premade character. I hated both pre-made Hawke and FemShep for it.

I'd like the chance to have colored stripes too, even if I Know is basically impossible (but I've played the sims 3 for years and I loved the option) or at least a whell for the hair color, like the eyes in DAI. I can never find a cestnut color for my characters.

Having been financially devastated in the past - I understand your position. You just have to be picky when money is tight. It's the only way to, well, eat.

As for Bioware getting their poop together - agreed. The embarrassment of having bland hair options vs the amateurism of clipping... Sorry but the poor options is worse. Everything else clips in their games. Hell... Bkackwall's beard clipped through his neck chest every time he spoke to me. I didn't care, but it made me grumble about my hair options being crap.

"Clipping beards are ok but I can't have longer hair? Whatever."

Also, I am very sorry to hear that you're experiencing health issues. I shall keep you in my thoughts.

Hair is a big deal. They need to give long hair options for both male and female.

Tattoos I can do without. What they really need to do is bring back scars!

Thanks for the kind thoughts. ;)

I can definitely live with the short, military-style hair options if that is what's needed to make them lifelike. It's completely immersion breaking for me when my carefully crafted character looks like he or she is wearing a Ken doll's hair. Whatever we get has to look lifelike. No terrible colors and textures, and very minimal clipping.

Mass Effect is far and away my favorite game series of all time. That said, I'd really feel put out to play it without save editors, and I'm an XBox 360 player. I've been modding textures, scalars, colors and the like (along with minerals!) for years. PC gamers mod their games to make them look incredible. I've had to mod my game to keep it from looking silly (black hair that's plastic grey, etc...) That's a bit frustrating. It's time for BioWare to move beyond that legacy.

I would be happy with hair that looks a bit like hair and where I have a few "handsome or normal" options.

It would be cool to have a variety of hairstyles and some tattoos. I think it only let you have facial scars before but they weren't that great, just the scars from the rebuilding of Shepard from Project Lazarus or the facial scars that James and Hackett have

My only thing with hair is that I think all hair styles should be such that they fit easily and convincingly into space helmets.

Far as tattoos go, yes I would like them, but not if they're restricted to the face. I don't mind face tattoos, but I think having only face tattoos just looks silly.

Oh ya scars would be amazasweet  too.

I feel stupid for not adding scars into my OP. I want those as well. Though I really want tats. All over. Every body part is an option. Even your junk. Kidding.

I hope they put a bit of extra time into hair this go-around, since it's a standing weakpoint, and I'd really like to see some decent hairdos.

Or not, so it continues to be a source of hilarity while we all use the same two styles that look good and ignore the others.

In DAI, all I ever use is that partial shaved shoulder length style, no matter what gender. It's.......getting old but I can't stand the other styles.
