I'm utterly at a loss. I've spent hours doing this. I walk slowly. I inch up step by step. I try pressing activate, I try just running at their back. Watched Youtube vids. Nothing has worked, and I haven't managed to catch a single one of them. Is there some sort of trick that anyone can share, other than what seems to be available already?

Don't press a button and don't run into him physically. Both seem to do not work properly. There are spots where it's impossible to get a catch and I did it on particular spots were he stands around a corner where you can sneak up from behind and from around the corner. I've saved and reloaded after each catch because otherwise he didn't spawn at these "easy" positions anymore.

 

One of these "easy" positions is the statue in the area of Cassandra, one at one of the corners of the blacksmith and one under the roof infront of the merchant house.

It took me ~ 1,5 hours everytime to get the 5 catches.

Save it for later in the dlc when it's nighttime (the same time you can do the fireworks minigame). That's what I had to do. It's a lot less people out then and it's easier to spot them without all those colourful orlesians about. Just stalk around til inqy says something like "there must be something here", look around carefully and make sure you approach them from behind and be quick about it. I just had to run up close enough and the inqy whistled automatically to surprise them.

Thanks guys. Do you just run straight at them from the start? I was trying to sneak to a couple of steps behind, and then run, but that wasn't working for me. But I tried it the other way too, and that wasn't doing it either.

There may be at least one or two positions where one can Ninja drop on top of him from above his location. I found one, and may have seen another.

Thing is, I cannot see going through all of the trouble to locate them all as this is the final chapter for that Inq. I was pleased to continue on with the few I found randomly; more exited about finding Easter Eggs.
