How much replay value do you guys think the golden nug statue brings to the game? starting over with all you armor,weapon,rune schematics etc..  Sure you can only make items with tier 1 materials at the start of the game but still tier 4 armor and weapons are very OP.

How much fun/easy would it be running nightmare mode or even casual mode with this lol

I dunno I think its kinda worthless given that crafting materials don't carry over. Are tier 1 materials really that OP with tier 4 schematics? I haven't bothered with nightmare since I still have two more main game trophies till I get platinum.

*shrug* if you play as a rogue or mage, you don't have to start with that ugly coat they have you craft.

Yeah. my mage has about 250 armor at lv3 and a staff with 98 dps 7% attack and 20% barrier damage no runes yet. and also you don't start with the ugly looking gear you are given at the star of the game lol

Since the Golden Nug statue enables the closest thing this game will ever have to a New Game+, I imagine the replay value is up to the individual.

For me? The replay value from the nug is negative. Meaning it would take away from my fun.

Other people seem to like it so... whatevs.

Absolutely increases the replay value. Sure, you don't really change your gear that often anymore (apart from using higher tier materials perhaps), but I really appreciate not having to go to the Suledin Cradle and grind for RNG schematics every playthrough.

Definitely adds to replay value. Thanks to the Golden Nug I now have access to every schematic available (T1 excluded)  in a new game. No more Valeska's Watch grinding for hours.

I think it does give it a very good replay value. i am loving being op even on nightmare atm. But more importantly it adds a lot of value to your End Game,DLC armor and weapon schematics.. it was really sad getting all these strong cool looking stuff during dlcs and only being able to use them a very small portion of the dlc or end game.

i am loving wearing my DLC gear at the start of the game and being op to add up. There is always Nightmare with no golden nug and trails for a challenge.

Between the Golden Nug, new Active ability upgrade options, Trials, new items, and even the Wardrobe choices, the replay value has increased a substantial amt for my own game.

I love being able to use the Griffon Mail Schematic on my new Dalish Rogue, makes him look quite a bit more beefy during cutscenes. Bioware really went overboard makings elves so skinny in this game. The Gold Nug also makes the game on newer playthroughs less stressful as now you don't have to worry about amassing gold for purchases or finding those rarer upgrade schematics.

I think the devs recognized that grinding for schematics can get tedious and metagamey and doesn't add anything to gameplay other than a repetitive bother. Plus many people don't like the combat, particularly the lack of quickslots- something not even mods can't fix, right?- and with respawns now a constant it can get laborious tramping through the hills delayed by long fights with endless wolves or bears that have nothing to do with the DA narrative or quests. Navigating the poison spiders in JoH is my least favorite. Mind you, I like that "empty" combat from time to time actually- sort of a break after heavy drama moments- but I can definitely empathize with those who don't. My subsequent playthroughs will definitely be making use of the Golden Nug. Requiring one full playthrough of DAI without it is fair.

Unlike many, I also like the appearance of the Haven starting armor (except for the aluminum foil thermal bubble wrap armor for warriors), but I'd prefer the better-looking stuff you can craft, so there's that. It's always a shame when the best available armor in the game only comes up near the end, so you don't even get to use it long and end up playing nearly the entire game without it, knowing it's there. The Nug rectifies this. I'll be loving playing my dwarf 2H warrior with a suit of Legion of the Dead or Sha-Brytol armor throughout.

So is it OP? Yep. Does it ruin my immersion? With lore as deep as DA's and the enormity of DA's explorable gameworld, not for me... Besides, you still have to get Dagna and farm mats for the type of armor that allows you to breeze the heavier fights. And really, you don't have to use it...

^This. Schema farmers and save-scummers worship at the feet of the Golden Nug.

I absolutely love that it lets me flip the finger at the RNG that controls the Canyon Market in the Hissing Wastes. Ha, take that, RNG!

I don't use it until I'm at a level where I could possibly get schematics of a similar level myself. Using those schematics at an earlier point in the game trivializes pretty much all content, including the new trials. I mean, I turned on scaling and more difficult enemies for a reason. If I cancel that out be wearing stuff that pretty much one-shots everything, it kind of defeats the whole point. Pre-Skyhold with t1 mats and post-Skyhold with t2 mats, high-end schematics are godly.

To me;

Trials = replay value

Nug = convenience (as in, no longer having to farm stuff)

That all being said, I really don't blame people for using it from the start. I can see how some people can find it boring to fight through the same zones for the Xth time and just want to power through it with a bit of help. It's not like it's a multiplayer game and what others do, doesn't affect me. :P

Not only does it save me time by not having to farm schematics, but it also saves me time by not having to farm higher tier mats.  For example, you can buy many tier 2 schematics as early as level 4.  You could then go spend 10+ hours farming gold, and tier mats from forbidden oasis.  Or you could use tier 1 mats in low-quality tier 3 schematics.  That saves me 10+ hours right there, and that's only at the beginning.

Define "fun." Now ask your neighbor to do it. I bet the answers don't match.

Some people can't enjoy the game if there's no tactical challenge, but others don't play for the challenge. Besides, the new Trials add challenge even with access to top tier gear, especially on higher difficulty settings. Also, the mere existence of a feature doesn't mean you have to use it. You can elect not to craft a single thing. I do "found gear" PTs quite a bit, actually.

Me, I'm a hoarder. If a schematic exists, I have to find it. If anything, the Golden Nug has enhanced my enjoyment of the game tremendously because I'm actually exploring and fighting monsters and moving on with the story instead of compulsively farming until I find that last greatsword grip. (I don't even know why I have to do that. I prefer playing W/S tanks to 2H, and I prefer to give Bull 2H axes instead of greatswords. I'll never use them, but I have to have them anyway.) Everyone is different.

I'm all about my armor having a specific look, so having the cool pauldrons to start off is a plus for me, even if I am crafting them with Iron instead of Silverite.

I like it. Not having to grind schematics every character is going to be great.

Who doesn't love a giant golden nug asking for a high five. But seriously it and trials were great additions.

I just got trespasser dlc and wow the amount of replay value . Between the Golden nug statue,trials and the new active passive abilities damn bioware out did them selves. the fact that they still think about this games replay value almost a year after release.
