I'm bummed they closed the other one. More mystifying is the comment: "This thread does not offer any valued discussion for the community. It is now locked."

Obviously it did offer valued discussion or it wouldn't have had so many participants. It also shows that the folks here know each other well enough to connect on other enjoyable topics. It's not like the board was cluttered with such posts, nor was it ever in any real risk of being entirely derailed by off-topic posts.

So, what was the point? I don't understand.

Probably two reasons.

Because certain people can't let us have nice things.

^Carrying on from the fantasy football thread, what does watching one Italian match have to do with the PL? Do you even know the PL is a different league? The thing is football (real football) is a world sport played by millions so of course youre going to get some cheats. It's still superior to American football in every way, as is Rugby

I mean, what was the point of this post? To start a flame war?

I get that he likes soccer better. But some people can't seem to differentiate between subjective opinion and objective facts.

It's sad.

And secondly, I'm the mods are operating under the "give them an inch, they'll take a mile" idea.

That if they allow any offtopic, this forum will then be full of off topic, distracting from the game, making actual info on the game hard to find, and make the forums more contentious.

My counter:
All the info that is needed has been consolidated in a sticky (thanks DR).
Additionally, this forum is small enough, and friendly enough, that the spam won't ever get out of control.
And lastly, the mods already do a good job of controlling the flames anyway, I don't think it would really take too much work.

I think the vast majority of the forums is respectful and would help self moderate and keep the forums the enjoyable place they are now.
