So as the title says im stuck between the archer rogue and mage. But idk anything about playing a mage im rather interested in it, but would love some insight on the class specialty you getta pick from. I know a little more about archer rogue just played tank warrior soo. Yeah.

Mages get Necromancer (Dorian), Knight Enchanter (Vivienne) and Rift Mage (Solas) as specializations. Rogues get Assassin (Cole), Tempest (Sera) and Artificer (Varric). What I like to factor in is who I don't like and won't mind having my Inquisitor replace.

a lot of people think that the Knight Enchanter makes you damn near invincible (constant barrier when fighting) ... it has nice abilities and a decent damage output...

Rift mage is more interesting me thinks (nice cc)

that said... I love the Archer rogue (my first PT was with the tempest-archer - huge damage output) ... will create another Archer in my next PT (this time Artificer)

Archer artificer is probably the most fun class/specialisation to play IMO. Once you get your cit chance up, you essentially have no cooldowns and infinite stamina. OK, you're bouncing around like a demented yo-yo most of the time, but it's great fun.

Rogue may choose Evasion; is extremely useful in and out of combat situations. Mage has access to Fade Step; useful for combat and covering terrain.

In combat, an Archer has up to four Archery slots; a Mage has up to eight Spell slots. Have not tested it, but to fully utilize all the Rogue Active abilities, they will need to switch to daggers between battles; a Mage can always use the other Spells.

I prefer mage for versatility, but have also enjoyed the Rogue especially for scouting and exploration.

In your warrior playthrough, you didn't switch around and play companions for a bit to try them out? It's not too late, if you have a save before What Pride Had Wrought, that's a fine quest to kick the tires on any mage or archer you want.

All three classes in the game (thanks to Trespasser) have a vast array of playstyles and roles they can fill (except for Rogue, they can't really give strong Support like a Warrior or a Mage and their primary control is "If its dead I don't need to CC it!").

I personally don't like Archers -- they feel weak if you're not playing a Tempest, and if you're playing a Tempest you might as well use daggers for AoE-self Shattering and Twin Fang spam. Artificer works -way- better in melee, and so does Assassin (in my opinion), but Archer has never been a very fun playstyle or role for me in any of the Dragon Age games (mainly because it feels gimped compared to Dual Wield -- they do the same damage per hit, but Dual Wield attacks 2-4 times as fast as Archery).

I say Mage, because all 3 specializations are varied, and they're great in terms of dialogue and gameplay.

Imho you can't go wrong with an artifcer archer, while they lack the burst dps of the assassin they have beastly sustained damage thanks to unlimited stamina and extremely low cooldowns if built the "right" way. The new Poisoned Weapons upgrade Leeching Poison adds a lot of survivability to all rogues, but if you refresh it constantly with the endless pool of stamina and almost non existent cooldowns of the artificer you become really hard to kill. And don't forget your focus skill Hail of Arrows, literally you can decimate dragons in seconds with it. A bit too OP for my liking but undeniably fun class.

IF your gonna go archer i suggest Tempest or Artificer since they are both fun and their focus abilities are the most broken powerful in the game.. if you are going mage i suggest Rift or Necromancer mage both equally fun. KE is just boring you will spend 80% of the time smashing 1 button.

To be honest when i first bought the game i thought archer was the most boring thing ever. But the minute i gave it a shot i had so much fun. Its my favorite role to play 2nd to Mage.

Post 10 patch ke is definately not about smashing one button especially with high difficulty and walk softly. But its mainly a decision if you want to play close combat mage or distance mage. Artificer is fun because now you can get 200 stamina and drop mines like no tomorrow. But with some of those elemental pact belts a mage will have ultimately the highest damage dealing capacity in this game, especially with inferno fire.
