Forgive a newbie if this has already been started but I've been curious as to what "the Remnant" are ever since the alleged leak came out last April. If the leak is to be believed, "...you will encounter the remains of a once powerful and mysterious alien race, the Remnant, whose forgotten technology holds the key to gaining power in this region of the galaxy. As you uncover who the Remnant were, and the mysteries their ruins contain, you are drawn into a violent race to find the source of their forgotten technology that will determine the fate of humanity."

 

I may be grasping at straws here but the wording of "as you uncover who the Remnant were", as opposed to discover is a detail that's been nagging at me since. Could that possibly mean that the Remnant are an entity that we know of, or at least have heard of, from the original trilogy?

 

Who do you think the Remnant are? And what made them vanish?

I'm thinking the Remnant just left the Heluis Cluster and migrated elsewhere and some of their leftover tech gets discovered while humans are attempting to colonize Andromeda. Personally I think the extinction theory is getting kinda old...

I know it isn't very unique, but I once sugested they might turn out to be the milkyway species that defeated the Reaeprs, expanded and then dissapeared Before your slow colony ship finally reched the galaxy.

At some poitn you learn the truth and Tech and a claim to that property.... You were actually first... And your Tech is what enabled the others to explore space...

Before that Point, all evolving species loved on their homeworld and died there just like Thanes people.

I think more interesting would be Reapers was in Andromeda but Remnants beat crap out of them.

I'm concerned that the Remnant and their wonderful lost technology are just a device to justify 150 hours of Inquisition-esque grinding.

Who needs an actual story when there are 100 powerful techno-shards to be discovered before the enemy gets them?!

I think it would have been cooler if the Remnant were already there and were like "Welcome! Here, we will help you set up colonies, give you resources, etc." but in the end they are just trying to enslave us and we start organizing a revolution against the Remnant overlords.

That so Stargate's ancient ones. Leave huge wormhole transportation technology and then ascend to higher plane of existence...mmm. Now that I think about it, they should have just used the Replicators' storyline for the Reapers....whatever.

 

I just hope the Remnant aren't just a copy/paste Protheans.

I'm would wonder if this Remnant is a Pre-Prothean civilization that sneaked of the milky way in one of the cycles the Reapers hit the snooze button on.
