Athletic and toned should be the lowest it should go, being physically active makes it very hard to be a beanpole, you could argue look at long distance runners, but if i put a 60 lbs ruck on them most of them would not get very far. You are covered in armour and supplies and weapons, all this stuff means you have to have some muscle.

That is absolutely incorrect. The overmuscular types struggle the most on long ruck marches. Speaking from personal observations from 6 years active duty.

Where did i mention overmuscled, point it out or are you assuming. Also you aren't the only ex serviceman so bugger off with that grandstanding crap.

Her skinny little arms didn't look like they could throw a decent punch, let alone lug around all that gear or handle some of those weapons. I used to chuckle and think to myself, "It must be that heavy muscle weave".

Oh don't get me started on that woman's pencil arms. But here I go, anyway. She didn't have *any* muscle on those little sticks. It was uncomfortable to look at. Drove me nuts. Women who lug heavy crap around will build up muscle in their arms.

***Think "Vasquez" from Aliens***

Furthermore, most women have a little extra weight in their upper arms past the age of preteen. (Not all... Sure... but it's a common trait on female bodies. Thighs and upper arms. There are more fat deposits there for a variety of genetic reasons.)

Twig arms. Ugh. Keep them on the little kids or coked up models - not on my soldiers.

Though,I still would like a slimmer man to play a rogue type dude. Just sayin'. ;)

Well it is official, from what I want, from I see other people want....only way to shut down all of our demanding threads down is to give us this kind of CC...

Well Bioware did say they were looking at CCs like this one, the one from EVE, etc. So hopefully they make a CC on par with those.

I'd love to have more body options available in the CC. I love the Dragon's Dogma CC, and the fact that I can choose my character's build.

But like everything else, it boils down to - what are you willing to give up?

Bioware is big on cutscenes, and so are many of the people who play their games. Check out the outcry over the fact that some DAI dialogue was presented sans cutscene (never mind that not doing cutscenes for every single dialogue meant more overall dialogue), and you'll find a lot of people unhappy about any perceived shortage where their precious cutscenes are concerned.

If the omnipresence of cutscenes in general (and sex scenes in particular) is one of the obstacles to greater choices in body build types - and I strongly suspect that it is - are people willing to forego much in the way of cutscenes to gain more body model options?

I certainly am, but then I'm the sort who would prefer fewer cutscenes, anyway.

They at least give you four body types to choose from in SWTOR.  I've discovered that my monitor has a wonky ratio that gives me people with much more lush bods than most people see, but at least I get

More varied body types would be a great addition. I know I would have liked to make femshep more buff looking. She was annoyingly skinny for a soldier.

That's great if you want to create a muscleman who has a neck like a goose.

Yeah, like that John Basedow guy from the Fitness Made Simple commercials.

I'd like to play as a female soldier who looks like she can actually choke a guy out. lol

I'm thinking a body-type like Katee Sackhoff's or Gina Carano's. A little broader in the shoulders and a bit more muscular than FemShep was.

I'd prefer to tweak the physique myself, but I'd be more than happy having three body "types" to choose from, as another poster suggested.

Type A: Slim. (Good for rogues and tech-specialists, who spend more time honing their minds than pumping iron.)

Type B: Average.

Type C: Buff. (Good for powerhouse soldiers and vanguards, who like to bludgeon Krogan with their bare hands and omni-blade.)

I didn't want more cutscenes in DA:I. "Cutscenes" are scenes that have interesting visual direction, like the shots in a movie. Obviously having those for every little encounter would have been a drain on resources.

I just wanted up-close shots of the characters' faces while they were talking, which is something we've had in all previous BioWare games. I found the zoomed-out camera view horribly impersonal.

But those closeups would have required additional effort. They would have had to sync the mouth movements with the actual spoken dialogue and applied facial expressions and possibly gestures - just like every other cutscene. From a distance, they can just use a generic animation that has the mouth flap while the speaker is talking. Since the budget for everything a game includes is finite, more closeups during dialogue would have taken away something else. My guess is that you would have ended up with less dialogue overall - and if they take those complaints to heart, that's probably what you'll end up with in the next game.

And I think most every Bioware game has included some ambient dialogue without those closeups.

I agree. The only male I made had such a baby-face and it looked like you could play the drums on his chest and back and he would sound like a hollow barrel. Or at least, make the game more compatible for mods. People were able to change entire body types on TES... how come other games can't do that?

all the NPCs were more or less idenitcal in TES though, not a good example.

Bioware won't because of clipping and alignment complications. always seeing scenes of shepard pushing buttons, or carrying, or shooting and so on. too much customization and the forum will complain about how the gun is floating a few centimeters above space Noahs protags hands. It's not an uncommon mistake for amateur modders to experience clipping and alignment difficulties when playing with animation and body mods.

I know she's trendy right now, but I always thought Ronda's Rousey's physique was perfect for a female soldier type.

I want more beefcake options.  Not less!

I want my PC to be built like Vega.  I'd be super disappointed if I ended up with a 'slim' PC, even if they are athletic.  It's why I've never played as an elf ever if given the option to be anything else.  Skinny ain't my jam.

I find the adjective (is this the right term?) "beefcake" to be highly disturbing. Borderline cannibalistic.

P.S. Somehow I have a feeling that calling certain female bodytypes "cheesecake" (or something) would be denounced as "objectification".

Really, that's your takeaway?  That the people using the term 'beefcake' (a term that has existed for 40+ years in the entertainment industry to describe large muscular men) want to eat those men?  That's a first for BSN, I have to say.......

Actually there is a mod that just zooms you in closer (either a lot closer or a little closer), and they already have animated the facial movements. The default zoom is just simply too far!

Does the mouth movement sync well with the dialogue lines?

I know that's been an issue in the past - whatever animation engine they used to make mouths move (like in roaming party banter) needed a lot of tweaking for close-up cutscenes.

I don't imagine we'll get much in the way of body customization.

That being said I personally thought MaleShep was in a good happy medium place for this kind of thing. I'm not about to call him 'average' like one guy in the DAI forums did a while back; he's definitely very fit. But I also wouldn't call him huge, either. Not too huge for me to consider him a "roguish" type if you wanted to play him that way. He's not Vega.

But then, I'm a professional wrestling fan, so my standards may be skewed a bit.

I thought ME3 Shep was rather beefed up versus the previous 2 incarnations.

Agree that customisation in this regard is unlikely, so hope they tweak downwards from the excess of beefedness of ME3.

If we are going to be human-only, I see no reason why they couldn't at least have body options like say SWTOR does.

Each gender could have three options: Lithe, Default, Amazonian/Beefcake
