If im playing a soldier i want a guy with some muscle on him i can believe him knocking someone out or pushing something heavy off him.

This is why seeing femshep doing somethings like punching saren in the face and that hurt him i can not buy that since she has no muscle.

True, though I could never play as 'self-insert' character because of two main reasons:

1) I can't create myself

2) And even if I actually manage to make 100% me it would be really weird for me to play(especially do romances lol)

In "real Life" I don't go around trying to head shoot people..., but in game..., I would be trying to bonk everything I could get into bed. That's the only time I would like to see romances in the game. :)

Cheers

SWTOR managed to do this. I managed to create the thinnest Sith and the fattest Trooper, so I don't see why they can't in ME. It's not important for me, but choice is always good I guess. Btw, I'd never call M!Shep beefy, not like james.

Assuming varying body shapes/sizes are ever introduced, it should reflect the background of the character being portrayed.

An obese Shepard for example, wouldn't have made sense given his/her background as a military officer. The character has a background where some level of physical fitness is part of the requirements for getting the job and exercise is part of the day to day activities of that job. In order not to demolish suspension of disbelief, with that same background any introduction of varying body shapes in the CC would have to be limited from thin and fit to muscular and fit.

That sort of thing is less an issue of course if your character is a pirate or some merchant captain.

Those are three different natural body types, depending on metabolic rate, vs eating and exercise habits. Some people are naturally thin as hell and cannot easily gain mass, others in the middle could go both ways (which describes most of us), and some are naturally huge and cannot lose mass as easily as everyone else.

William Sheldon's bonkers taxonomy stopped even being a thing 60 years ago and was never remotely scientific to begin with.
