I have have been pondering about this for a while... Ghost Rider in the sky that means in Andromeda humanity or what is left of it stumbles into something and opens Pandora's box and we are tasked of saving our arses again from a ghostly evil?

Ghost Rider in the sky is basically the Wild Hunt. For people who don't know what the hell the Wild Hunt is... it's basically a cavalry of huntsman kidnapping people, slaughtering everything and is or an omen of war. It is a folklore that originated in Europe and the Witcher games along with novels introduced us to this very well.

Ghosts or demons from another dimension unleashing hell that means an unkown or forgotten alien life form awakened by our presence hell bent on conquering everything? if this is the plot don't you guys think it is kinda... overused or generic already considering that we already have a lot of games having you play as the hero or something?

Wasn't that basically what the Reapers were?

Isn't that the way for pretty much all entertainment media? Movies and games need to have a hero or a protagonist. Games are notorious for doing that to the nth degree but isn't that why we play them? I'd be disappointed if I had to play a character that isn't or doesn't turn out as a hero in the end. (See Life is Strange - couldn't get into that one).

The Wild hunt theme has been done and very recently, try to at least be somewhat original.

Yeah, unoriginal concept.

I'm also sick of the "good guy" protagonist that always saves the day and is hailed as a hero/saviour

You had to make several leaps in (il)logic to get there, bro. These are disconnected thoughts that you connected for no discernible reason.

As far as I am aware, only part of the song resembles the Wild Hunt... the phantasmal horses. I think it is more likely the other parts of the song that translate into MEA. It is imo most likely about being warned about the dangers of chasing something they shouldn't. In this case I think the Remnant pursued some sort of technology and then largely got wiped out because of it. Now the milky way races are chasing the same technology. The Remnant are the ghostly horsemen and warning the "player" not to keep looking for it.

Edit : It also conveys the frontier spirit. It's possible that this is all it is there for but I there is a little more to it since we were told that music was chosen for a very good reason which should become apparent later.

I hope they don't copycat Wild Hunt.

But ...

"The song tells a folk tale of a cowboy who has a vision of red-eyed, steel-hooved cattle thundering across the sky, being chased by the spirits of damned cowboys. One warns him that if he does not change his ways, he will be doomed to join them, forever "trying to catch the Devil's herd across these endless skies". Jones said that he had been told the story when he was 12 years old by an old cowboy friend.[1] The story resembles the northern European mythic Wild Hunt.[4]"

It's more of a cautionary tale about how you should not to be stupid.

Which we will be.

Ah yes, "Witchers". A group of warriors allegedly capable of mystical feats.

What I learned today. The Wild Hunt is not exclusively Polish mythos. It's more Western and Germanic.

I figured that song was chosen more for the westerney theme. I mean cause the games about this new frontier.

There's a Welsh version of it as well. Arawn, the King of the Otherworld, supposedly came for the souls of the dead with a pack of spectral hunting hounds called the Cwn Annwn.

As others have said, the song may just have been chosen for its western vibe, but it's fun to speculate on other possible, creepier, meanings.

It isn't... but one thing is for sure that it originated in Europe and countless sightings were reported even in UK.

Possible but since this BioWare dude claimed that the song plays an important role it may mean something. The forumers above me stated about a "warning of not pursuing something" but what boggles my mind is that... the Ghost Rider song is indeed about the Wild Hunt but who knows?

There is an ancient Hawaiian version as well, called the Night Marchers.

They don't fly across the sky but otherwise the myth is similar. In the Hawaiian myth a procession of ghosts of long dead warriors carrying torches and their chiefs occasionally march across the islands at night, playing drums and blowing on conch shells as a warning to get out of their path. Anyone unfortunate enough to stumble across their path is supposed to lie down and not look at them, or they'll be struck dead. The only exception, according to the myth, is if a person has an ancestor among the Night Marchers. The ghost will then call out, "S/He's mine," and they'll be left alone.

It is an interesting choice of song, I admit. There must be countless Country and Western tracks that they could have used if they were just going for a Western theme. I have a few thoughts about it possibly applying to the N7 in the trailer. He's clearly looking for something, and doing so in a ruthless manner that implies he doesn't really care who he has to fight his way through to get. I suspect he may be some sort of antagonist who is compelled, either by personal obsession or by a hidden Big Bad, to hunt for something that would be better left unfound. Much like the ghosts of the damned cowboys in the song perhaps?

I'm pretty sure it's an optical phenomenon caused by Nicolas Cage riding a motorcycle.

I think there's been a fundamental misunderstanding here. No one was ever talking about Ghost Rider.

MEA has been in development for a while now (since 2012 I think?) - BW may not have known what CDProjektRed was planning and vice versa. I say we wait and see what spin they put on the tale.

Well to be fair the Wild Hunt Lore of Witcher series is the main plot since 2007, even Witcher 2 talks about the hunt 24/7. It's like Shepard trying to warn everyone about the Reapers but stupidly no body listened. Geralt on the other can not convince the kings because the hunt was seen a folklore and those who witnessed the hunt ended up dead or crazy anyway.

As for Andromeda I have huge expectations now they have to atleast balance things out and impress me or the majority. The Witcher was like hitting 6 birds with one stone... The characters and doalogues and choices reminded me about Mass Effect, The combat planning is like Deus Ex, the Open world aspect is like Skyrim, The crafting and monster contracts is like monster hunter, the hack and slash is like devil may cry and god of war but with momentum, then the Graphics were really pushing PC gaming again... then we have the 16 FREE DLC. Even those buying Fallout 4 are already wondering how Bethesda will pull it off.. I am not claiming that the Witcher is the best rpg for everyone but IMHO of all RPG that I have played it is and the game originated from an unkown, underrated, indie developer called CD Projekt Red xD... Andromeda needs to be great in its own universe. Guess I have to wait and see.
