Heya,

So i started to dive into custom content.

There is one major problem i have with the game, combat is too boring aka combat atacks are too far apart.

BG also had this problem but i could increase game speed in config program outside the game.

DA 2 nearly fixes the problem, and you could bypass that problem in DAO by downloading proper mods.

Pillars of Eternity also have this problem but you can increase game speed by pressing "D", which solves the issue.

So, is there a way increase overall gamespeed or at least combat speed ?

After a while games gets too boring and i simply cannot play it since it is like this.

attack,nothing,nothing,nothing, atack, nothing, nothing,nothing, atack .....

Thanks for any clues you can give.

Cheers,

Sew

you will get more attacks the higher your level is. theoretically one could edit the bab progression to grant lower levels additional attacks, but i doubt that there's a mod available doing this. there's no way to increase game speed. imo you're looking for an arpg, and nwn2 doesn't fit your preferences.

Yeah, it's one of the problems with low level combat. Cleave, Great Cleave and Supreme Cleave can increase your attacks per round, as does dual wielding, although you won't necessarily be doing more damage than with a single weapon. Haste effects help as well, but you'll need some levels for that. Also, stick to high BAB classes if you want to get the extra attacks ASAP. And, of course, having companions makes it all less of an issue.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but that's the only way to speed up combat that I know of.

Edit: I forgot to say that monks get more attacks per round and run faster than most other classes. Of course, you may want to play a different class, but I guess it was worth a mention.

Neverwinter Nights (1 + 2) are  based on Dungeons & Dragons.
DnD is a tabletop Pen n Paper game.

In DnD everything is done in rounds or turns. Rounds are 6 seconds, Turns are 10 Rounds = 1 minute.

What this means, is when the game tells you that you get a single attack per round, it means that you attack once per 6 seconds.
This is why it is slow.

As you level up, you get more attacks per round. If you level up and equip two weapons, you also get more attacks per round.
You don't get static attacks like in some other games.
The number of attacks you can make increases with your levels or number of weapons.

Yes, and the game is about party management, not button mashing. That time between attacks is used to give directions to party members: casting spells, drinking potions, selecting scrolls or wands, changing position, targeting different opponents, monitoring health, reading the log console, &c.

As the OP mentioned, the Infinity Engine games like Baldur's Gate allow you to increase the game speed up to 200%.  I always run them that way.  There's a big difference between wanting a fast forward button and wanting an ARPG.

If you would read my whole post, you would notice, i do not want arpg, i want game to go faster. I don't want to "smash buttons". In unity engine games you could speed up the game.

Try playing europa universalis or rome total war on lowest speed, i would guarantee you will get bored.

I miss the old permanent haste items, like the Boots of Speed in the 2nd edition games, or even the original Bracers of the Blinding Strike in the OC (later patches changed the blueprint so they no longer granted permanent haste).

Lol, so how is it that i can still boost my game speed in bg/icewind dale and still do all of the things i mention.

Kotor also had all of those things but been less boring.

I know overall rules, i bought BG/BG 2/ Icewinddale when they came out.

Did you actually read what i written ?

If i wanted to play arpg i would have done so, i want to game to move faster aka GAME SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED.

I do not want to modify rules D&D, i want overall game run faster.

Tycoon games allows you to ajust game speed.

Playing them on higher game speed doesn't mean i should go and play rts.

That's what the pause feature is for. Moreover, you typically don't have a whole variety of tactics available at low levels, and later on the time between attacks is shortened.

Regardless, I agree with the OP that combat is boring as **** when you have one attack per round (and low AB, etc), but as explained above, there isn't much you can do about it, besides gaining levels and abilities. I suppose you could give yourself some Haste items with the console, but that'd be cheating, and I don't know if that'd be acceptable to you.

As has already been explained the answer is no, there is no speed cheat.
The solution is equally simple, download a higher level module, one with a large party, or both. As your work load increases that six seconds gets used up a lot faster.

Increasing the processing speed* isn't a cheat.  If anything, it's a handicap.

* which probably will have to wait until we're using a virtual Windows machine akin to DOSbox's virtual DOS machine, with a feature allowing you to accelerate the entire runtime environment.

I had the opposite problem when I played Arcanum. I found that the game ran so fast at higher character levels that I had no choice but to activate automatic pausing at the end of every turn. Otherwise enemy melee attacks were a blur of movement, with no time for me to react during combat to prevent near-instant death. It turned out that I quite liked the turn-based pausing during combat though.

I had the same experience, and I also prefer the turn-based pausing in Arcanum.  I don't often see positive remarks for it, but for me, it's quite nice.  Instant moves, essentially.

In arcanum you had 3 gameplay modes. Turn based, Fast turn based, and real time.

I always play on fast turn based since as you mention real time is just too fast.

But that is the thing, i had the option there, in nwn i do not have one and i want one.

How is increasing overall game speed, a cheat. Still that is not acceptable.

I game on PC because i want to play games the way i desire them, that what options are for. The same way you could say that fov slider is freaking cheat and using a wheel in racing game is also a cheat.

There is a difference between speed hack and increasing overall game speed.

Speed hack increases ONLY MY SPEED, and i want overall game speed increase so everyone will benefit from it.
