Is there a way to see which companion reacts to which gift without doing trial and error?  Thanks!

you can kinda tell by the way the character acts as well as gender. like leilana is pretty preachy so she likes that sorta stuff;symbols and such. shes also a chick so likes pink shoes with puppies on them too.gamebanshee has a list of some of them in the companion section.

Some gifts have conversation cutscenes associated with them so it's good to know which gift is the best for a specific person.

The only thing i can tell is that Morrigan loves Jewelry and flemeth's books and sten likes paintings lol...

Leliana - holy symbols
Alistair - statues and runes
Wynne- books
Zevran - cold, hard metals
Sten - paintings
Dog - bones
Ogren - drinks

heh I gave those to Morrgain and I thought she might be offended. She was being her usual self so I thought a dirty pair of undies might wind her up some more, but she gladly took them for +5
