This is my first time assigning Alistair instead of Stroud (or Loghain) for this quest. Generally I'm not the sort to tweak previous choices on a whim, but I made a special exception here (I only have one Origins playthrough and Alistair was made King of Ferelden in it). I just really wanted some quality time with The Man, The Legend, The Grey Warden Himself.

Is Alistair always exiled from a Cousland Prince-Consort's presence? That's... that's bleak. "He decided he preferred the company of the queen." ;_; Alistair and Aedan Cousland were best bros when I played, so it kind of stings. Poor guy. He also mentioned how my Warden chose to follow through with the Dark Ritual, claiming he "now follows a dark path." Yikes, rough times.

Poor Ali-bro. Not like this.

It appears so.

I suspect Alistair's exile was eventually demanded by Anora. Think about it: the only way to achieve this outcome is to have Alistair kill Loghain. Anora won't marry a Warden who slew her father, and Alistair won't stay in the Wardens if Loghain is allowed to join.

Of course she'd want him gone once the Blight was dealt with.

I'm not sure if writing has something to do, I once imported a Warden with all the moral decisions and friendship with Alistair, letting Anora take the crown, but he said something about the path Warden chosen was "too dark to follow"....WTF!?

Did your Warden do the Dark Ritual? Could be reflective of that.

Warden Alistair always says the HoF walks a dark path if they chose the Dark Ritual and was not in a romance with him.

Do you realize that the only way male HoF lives along Warden Alistair is through the ritual right? •_• So, there's no way to keep the brat happy, is it?

He is jealous because the warden ends like "The hero of Ferelden" and he as "the idiot who don't want be king"

Well, he has zero problem with a lady Warden who romanced him and agreed to the Dark Ritual. He sure appreciates all the sex.

No, I neglected to consider that. Tis been some time since my Origins playthrough.

Does Alistair return as a Grey Warden if he was manually exiled by the Warden and the Queen?

I seem to remember he doesn't, that you would get Loghain or Stroud, but I seem to remember a dev mentioning that it was intended to have Alistair in exile return to the Wardens in Orlais, where he would have more insight towards Clarel personally (rather than the usual where he will say he didn't really know her because he was with the Wardens in Ferelden.)

I always thought it was an interesting implication that Alistair might return to be a Warden in the same unit that Loghain could be in.

Also, where da fuq is Stroud when he's not Hawke's Warden friend...?

He does eventually sober up and rejoin the Wardens if exiled, but you only see that through his codex entry. Your Warden contact in-game is still Stroud.

I hope he's fine, he should disagree with Clarel even if he is not Hawke's friend right? he wasn't as developed as Loghain or Alistair and he certainly does not carry the same quantity of faults than them.

Seems like HOF appreciates the sex with Anora too.

Yeah, I kinda wished Bioware had taken it a little step further in the different outcomes. Even if they did not physically appear, it would have been cool if the other "warden options" were also working with us if they were all alive. It would have been insanely interesting character development to explore a exiled Alistair that had returned to the Grey Wardens and actually worked with Loghain for a common cause within the order.

So King Alistair is the only way he remains on good terms with the HoF?

Only romanced Warden it seems, if the brat doesn't like the Dark Ritual option as Warden I doubt it changes if King, also, as King, he sent his uncle to speak crap of the Wardens

He never insinuated dislike of the Warden on my original file, but then, as far as I recall, King Alistair does not really have the chance to bring it up. At least, not unromanced King Alistair.

I made him King and remained in Thedas, leaving Morrigan and the brat to their Oz, we're on good terms.

He was romanced In my games (as a Warden) so no negative output from him during that save. He didn't say anything about Queen Cousland when I had him as king, he seemed bitter about King Cousland and Anora banishing him but I'm fairly certain that King Cousland would've not allowed his best friend to be banished by his wife... Loghian was a better choice when It came to King Cousland/Anora, because he wasn't banished by Anora...

Wow, this thread was buried near to a Lyrium vein

Only by dying, yes.

Dying to make happy an ungrateful and treacherous brat.... No way, I rather kill him, trying to disband the Inquisition was the third strike, now I'll use the anti-Flood treatment on that whole family, starting with the use of metagaming to wipe out all the members I can, and I hope we can take an amoral decision on DA4, something like convince Valta to wake up the Titan to take the crap out of Solas, that should make the work.

Trying to disband the Inquisition... are we still talking about Alistair?

With a letter encouraging Teagan to be a total jerk, yes, we still talking of Alistair.

In Trespasser, there's a letter from King Alistair and he encourages Tegan to seek the disbandment of the Inquisition. Though, it doesn't matter who the ruler of Fereldan is that is what they want to happen.
