I got the idea after playing through games like knights of the old republic 2 and GTAV. it would be good if we could make them and if they had the opportunity to be friend or foe with each other and have opportunities during main stories to be saving or betraying or killing each other. Not that this should be a replacement for a real non-player antagonist, because how such a story could even be possible in gaming I am unsure. KOTOR 2 allowed us a lot of time controlling other characters (separate from our own protagonist) and the few opportunities provided to make decisions and role play from the perspective of others of the protagonists crew were quite good I think
multiple protagonists

The problem with multiple protagonists is that they can't really interact with each other in a game where you get to choose their dialogue and actions. In GTA, you can choose to help people and such, but when the three of them are together, you are not in control.

So you want full control of the party like a party rpg should be? I agree with this.
I don't remember the player making decisions on Kreia or any other characters behalf though

How about a single protagonist with multiple personalities? One of them is the villain.
Like in The 3? (Man, Donald Kaufman was a genius.)

I... don't understand how the OP played GTA5 and KotOR and said "hey, this is the same."
That said, I'm 100% ok with them taking plenty of inspiration from the latter and none from the former. The only thing worse than one static fixed protagonist is three static fixed protagonists, especially when each of them is a dickhead like in GTA5.

My issue with this is that I think this sort of thing only works when the protagonists have very real contrasts to each other, both in terms of gameplay abilities and in terms of personality.
Taking that with the Bioware formula where we customize our character's gender, appearance, and to a large extent, personality, I don't see that as being a real option without taking away a higher degree of control than most Bioware fans would be comfortable with.

And then there's the obvious question of whether or not we can have romance between the protagonists. It's especially creepy if we can make them all look identical. My issue with this is that I think this sort of thing only works when the protagonists have very real contrasts to each other, both in terms of gameplay abilities and in terms of personality.

It would be kinda funny if you get the wheel for both sides of the dialogue. ![]()
On topic: For me, a single character works best for my immersion. I already don't like direct control of party members, so multiple protagonists would probably not do it for me, at least in a Mass Efefct type of game. There are other games where I don't mind it but those are usually the ones where you don't have decisions to make and the story s set.
I didn't mind playing Joker in ME2 though. If it's just for a short period to show us something that happens somewhere else, that's ok.

I think they should stick with one main protagonist
In certain circumstances a secondary temporary Protagonist can work(Ciri TW3).
I don't think the first game of a new series is the time to do that though.
Maybe in the game after where the ME4 protagonist could take on such a temporary role.

Multiple playable characters in the style of GTAV wouldn't work for a BioWare game. Once you have to make decisions from the perspective of each character to suit their personalities you're taking yourself out of the role. And if you make all decisions for each of the characters to suit your personality then there's no point in having multiple playable characters in a game based on making decisions. Then there's also the annoying process of making multiple characters in the character creator.

I feel like there was something mentioned in the leak where the player could send teams on missions and then either wait for the results or actually play through them in MP.
I don't know whether additional player characters would really qualify as multiple protags, though.
