Does the well of sorrows choice effect anything in the Trespasser DLC?
Going through the game again and i want to choose myself instead of morrigan this time around but not if it causes me to miss anything really interesting in Trespasser.

There's one instance where having the Well lets you avoid a fight with a bunch of elven spirits.
There's a difference in Trespasser if Inquisitor drinks from the well, but nothing mind blowing.
Yeah...

Yep. That was cool. I hated those spirit fights in my other playthroughs, and drinking from the well lets you waltz in - and also turns them into allies in one fight, complete with green bars instead of the usual red, and immunity to friendly fire if it's turned off.

I thought so too. What happens if you use the "try and speak elven" to them as a Dalish? Do they still turn into allies?

They attack you anyway (if you didn't drink from the Well).
There seems to be a bit of a "import" bug with it so that the dialogue may not trigger because it mistakenly believes you did not drink from the Well of Sorrows. That's what happened to me.
I'm just wondering... shouldn't the Well give us some information about Solas? Who he truly is? Is there any mention of it in the game?

Seeing as Solas took Flemmythal power (at the end). It would probably be easy for him to make it so you don't know anything

Seeing as Solas took Mythals power. It would be trivial for him to make it so you don't know anything
That's still a highly debatable subject.

That's one hell of an assumption.

How else did he get a power up then?

Logically yes, but Solas was protected by ancient elven plot magic.

No, because Solas now controls the voices you are hearing, Remember they are all bond to Mythal, and now Solas. Solas knows you are there and that is why he has the voices tell you what to say to the Evlven spirits and they side with you against the Qunari. In essence if you drink from the well you are aligned with him.
So it means he will know where you are and what you are saying. IMHO it is dangerous to drink from the well he knows everything you are doing.
But since Solas believes in choice & free will, I do not think he will make you do his bidding.
Your Dalish elf's ancient elven must be rusty since they still attack you. Damn spirits.

That's pure speculation. It's more than likely that Mythal would have known what to say as well. The inquisitor even says "If Mythals well of sorrows knew this, were they friends or? I'm not sure" and the scene where Solas absorbs Mythal it's pretty obvious that they *were* close, probably lovers or something cause that's not how you greet an enemy or someone you only "know".
I'm not insiting that you're wrong, just saying that what you said is pure speculation.

It's not just speaking in elven. You need a specific password phrase.

Draining Mythal doesn't mean he becomes Mythal. If I could somehow find a way to use my iPad to charge my remote control, that won't turn it into an iPad.

There isn't anything stopping him from being under her geas.
I'm a bit surprised, and somewhat disappointed, that all that knowledge in your head wasn't put to good use while talking with Solas.
It's not exactly knowledge - it's voices; the voices (and personalities) of the past priests of Mythal. I'm pretty sure that in a conversation with an actual Evanuris, whose whole plan is "restore the ancient elves", a bunch of disembodied souls of old ancient elves aren't exactly going to be jumping at the bit to tell you how to stop the "restore the ancient elves" plan.
