Didn't BioWare scoop up the player data and reveal that almost 75% of Inquisitors are male characters?
Didn't you read the first page? Somebody already posted that data.

and 68 is not 75.

You might have. We don't wear signs.
I do in the form of graphic tees. I have so many gaming t-shirts and most of them BioWare game related.

That 68/32 ratio represents "inquisitors created" and not "completed games". I've made about 50 inquisitors myself, about 50/50 male/female, but I've finished 10 games. Of those 10 games, 5 have featured female inquisitors**... which is is still a 50/50 split, which I did not expect. I've found my male protagonists a bit more forgettable, to be honest, so I sometimes neglect to include them in my "personal statistics".
**(...Counting... 2 romanced Blackwall, 2 romanced Cullen, 1 romanced Solas, 2 romanced Cassandra, 1 romanced Dorian, 1 romanced Iron Bull, 1 romanced Josephine)

Yeah the stat is lacking a certain context.
Man I started and stopped so many dudes because of their looks. I'm more picky about my dudes looks than my girls...

If only people would stop putting those "statistics" pictures as fact like they mean anything. Some players will stop and won't finish the game, others will finish the game once and that was it, and others do more than one or two pts. I've done many pts with all female inquisitors (and 2 male) and i'm pretty sure others do many pts as well.
And then there are the players who play offline.
Roleplaying isn't about imagining the character is you, it's about imagining you are the character.
But according to Bioware's statistics, male inquisitors outnumber female two to one.
The problem with this stat is it's only for number of Inquisitors created, not the number who finished the game, which I'd very much like to see stats on. I have nothing to back this up besides my own experiences, but I'd imagine a there are more male "casual" (for lack of a better term) gamers who picked up DA:I without really knowing much about it, and didn't finish it (because the number of people who don't finish games is sadly high), whereas I would guess that more female players would actually finish the game, since they might have been looking for games where you can play as a female in a satisfying way in the first place.
Let's see, I've created five female Inquisitors and one male Inquisitor, so I'm skewing those stats a bit. I have a female friend (another gamer mom, yay!) who always plays male characters, however, so we cancel each other out. What are we trying to prove here again? Oh, yeah, that Bioware should ignore 32% of its customers, was that the point?
Goes for hawke , and origins. I watch the videos on youtube everyone not just DA: I wants to play female it seems.
Something im missing? Figured if you play a game you would imagine that the character was you hence role playing right?
Or maybe im paranoid and missing something.
That's not role playing that is self insertion. A lot of people do go with self insertion there is nothing wrong with it but it is not truly role playing.
Roleplaying isn't about imagining the character is you, it's about imagining you are the character.
But according to Bioware's statistics, male inquisitors outnumber female two to one.
That's not too shocking, most women from what I've seen don't play as only female, whereas most men I know do play only as a male. Almost half my Inquisitors are male (3/7) for example. My male Hawke is my "main" Hawke as well.
In the words of a dude I used to play WoW with; "If I gotta stare at a booty the whole time while playing, it might as well be a female one."
Mostly applicable to WoW, but I guess it works here as well as one of the many reasons why someone would play a female character - males included.
I don't usually play female characters myself, but when I do it's usually because they have better animations than the males - especially when it comes to casting spells. A lot of games make male characters way too bulky to pass as reasonable-looking sorcerers.
No I will hang around little bit more to robe some truth in to yours eyes to see you squirm.
Robes don't make me squirm, they are warm and a handy way to not be naked.
No I will hang around little bit more to robe some truth in to yours eyes to see you squirm.
What kind of robe are we talking: coat robe or bathrobe?
It is rare to find someone who enjoys the good ol' game of robe tossng: are we going by squirm-untill-you are-free-rules or robed-and-you-are-out-rules?

I can't believe how many people are twisting themselves into pretzels trying to spin these stats to fit their agenda...
"But, but, but...these numbers don't mean..."
Stop it, they mean exactly what they say...waaaaaaaay more guys play this game than chicks. We can debate what that should mean for the series going forward (I think they should get back to catering to their largest audience), but lets stop pretending that 'just as many women' play games as men.
That has never, and will never, be true...not even close.
Yes, but that says nothing about the actual demographic of gamers. I have straight female characters, lesbian characters, gay male and bisexual male characters. Women typically don't have a problem playing male characters because we've had plenty of experience identifying with male protagonists. However, I would say that the vast majority of male gamers who play as female characters typically create lesbian characters.
I know. I didn't say otherwise. But part of the first post was about how many female Inquisitors there were, and I was just pointing out that this wasn't really the case. It might be on YouTube perhaps, but not as a total.
Didn't you read the first page? Somebody already posted that data.

Obviously I didn't read the first page. But thanks for quoting the relevant post.
And I didn't write 75%, I wrote "almost 75%".

I'm a woman and play mostly male characters, what does that mean?

Read the posts above you. People explain why these statistics can't be 100% accurate.
Also, LOL @ "back to catering to their "largest" audience". It always gives me a chuckle when i read posts like this.
I'm not sure why but you almost sound like you're being scared of the fact that more women play games now.
I'm a woman and play mostly male characters, what does that mean?
Probably that you are a man in disguise.
Because your game immediatly notices your true gender by magic and automaticly locks a protagonist of the different gender to spare you any emotional inconvenience.
Haven forbid if you had to put yourself into a position of someone so very different from you that any connection and understanding is impossible. *sarcasm end*
I mostly play males because I'm shallow and want to play someone I find hot.
It's mostly the option of playing a fem protag if I want that matters to me. Even if I don't use it that much. XD
Sadly, I have no idea where I saw it. I'm a chemist, so the job pays for access to a wide variety of professional journals. Most of the ones I read are related to dermatology because that's what I do for a living, but I'm (voluntarily) interested in brain chemistry and the havoc illness visits upon it (especially metabolic disorders), so I follow several psychiatric journals when time permits. I suppose I could do an abstract search if it became a point of honor or something, but if you've ever done one, you know it isn't something one undertakes on a whim. Seriously. Yesterday, I saw an article where the entire text of the abstract was "Methamphetamine upregulates phospholipids." The article itself was a reasonably thorough study of the effects of long-term amphetamine use on brain ceramides, but the abstract itself was vague and misleading.
So yeah, if you have a burning interest in the sociology of gender representation, I could probably look it up, but as a doctor, you probably have the same access I do, and we'd both be starting from scratch. My remark was intended more for entertainment than enlightenment. The power of boobies indeed.
Yeah, I tried looking for it but as you can imagine finding something with "gender, equal" as reference is like looking out for a particular leaf in a forest.

Obviously you missed all the posts which explain why you're wrong. Who is twisting things to suit them now?

Well the female/male gamers ratio is like 45/55? So assuming that percentage is true for Dragon Age and everyone is playing themselves, thats almost half.. then theres the gender split of people not playing themselves, the split of those participating in the fandom online, and also the split of whoever records themselves playing. If after factoring that all in, women were more prominent then so what?
I suspect also that some people really disliked the hair options on male characters. Even some little cosmetic thing like this will ****** some people off. You wouldn't believe the contortions I'm willing to go through to prevent my character's hair clipping through her ears.
I'm female and I play exclusively female characters. I'll play male characters in games where there is no option, but given a choice I'll play female every time. Playing a guy just BUGS me.
