I see the exact same arguments on CDPR forums and I saw the same type of angsts over a different system voice protagonist and strong story driven narratives on bethesda's forums. If you don't like change then the AAA RPG market is looking bleak.
Bioware is going to take systems and mechanics from both of their main franchises and includes them in future titles. They did this in the past they will do it in the future. And look if you don't like exploration don't buy DA:I (if you haven't already) and don't pre-order ME:A (you shouldn't pre-order period but that is another story) wait to see if there is enough other content for you to justify buying ME:A that will counter you not liking exploration. But understand your subjective likes and dislikes are not universal, nor a fraking sign of some superior taste on your part, or that those who have different position are unsophisticated gamers who like things dumbed down or not old die hard fans or some other BS that tries to create a false metric of why your subjective opinion is superior to a dissenting opinion. Open world games are well liked, they are popular and have good sales numbers so if you don't like it tough you better get use to it because that is the direction of gaming in RPGs. Bethesda and Bioware appear to have taken the RPG genre and started at different ends of the spectrum but they have consistently moved closer together over the years in their pursuit of the "perfect" RPG so if you hate Bioware storytelling its going to suck for you on the AAA RPG market as even Bethesda say they want to head in this direction. And if you hate open world exploration and the like, you are going to have to move on to indie titles because CDPR, Bethesda and Bioware all feel that this is the future of the RPG. And sales figures all back this up. So either accept this or move on, anything more is just p!ssing into the wind. There is zero reason for any of these companies to believe that increased story, voice protagonists and open world is not what the market wants based on sales and accolades.
As a developer I'd value sales over gamer opinion on if a franchise is going in the right direction and as an investor I'd value sales than gamer opinion as well. Gamers are not as important as they think they are or as wise or as smart. We have only one tool to express our desire for gaming direction, our wallets. stop pre-ordering games and only buy games that support your vision of how a game should be. If you feel burned by DA:I or ME:3 then fraking wait till ME:A comes out, watch a few reviews by reviewers you trust and then make a decision if you will buy it.
