I think it's one of the coolest concepts in dragon age and they completely missed an opportunity in inquisition to make your inquisitor or even just a follower a blood mage. I like it because it's not necessarily bad, it just has a negative connotation and it's extremely fun. Like Bioware pls

If we are going to Tevinter as has been hinted, it could make sense.

I don't think they missed a opportunity with blood magic I hate it when everyone says this. Because I mean think about who was in your inquisition there are far to many people that HATE blood magic Cassandra would kill out if she figured out you were a blood mage. Vivienne would not willing an knowingly join a blood mage. Cullen would most likely try to kill you along with Cassandra. Dorian hate what his father did with blood magic to him an would most likely resent u as well. Varric would be super uneasy from all the Kirkwall mess with blood magic left and right. That's what I think.

As for DA4 I REALLY want them to bring it back but only if they are gonna recognize it and id love for them to bring in some danger to using Blood Magic. Maybe have demons tempt you with power or just try to forcibly take you over.

I believe they've said they do not wish to bring it back into player gameplay unless they can provide it with the weight they feel it should have as reflected by the lore and attitudes towards it.

It could use much more health and not be able to use potions (or healing in general) while being in an area without resting. Everytime you use Blood Magic on a party member, if they aren't ok with the whole "Evil Magic" then their disapproval of you could go down depending on what you do...

Things like that?

Edit:

I think how they've built up Blood Mages, that a true Blood Mage would be extremely OP.... I would dominate everyones minds!!! Muahahahaha!!!

I truly hated how Hawke was a total boy scout preaching about the evils of blood magic in DAI. Let's hope we can see it as a specialization again.

Blood magic in DAI... I just wish my Hawke was more cognizant of the fact that SHE was a blood mage. And has blood markings on her face and her arms. Like. Hi. Blood magic in DA4 is something I both want really badly and expect. I think the reason they didn't include it in DAI was cuz they couldn't work in the consequences or something right? Well there will be less consequences in a place where its use is common and presumably the defenses stronger. Hopefully not completely absent though.

I hope this is indeed the case. It made 0 sense for you to be able to use it, ESPECIALLY in the context of DA 2 with all the **** everyone, including Hawke, gives to Blood Mages. The start of Mages in DA:O is all about Blood magic and then again at Redcliffe then you just... start to use it yourself?! Wut?

They'll have to bring back blood magic. Their lame excuse worked for Inquisition, considering we play a Saint an' all, but Tevinter's all 'bout that blood magic, son. They wouldn't dare ruin magic even more.

Its Tevinter therefore there will be blood magic and then there will be blood magic.

If you're a practicing blood mage, it'd be nice if your hair started falling out and you start hearing voices and **** like they do in the books. Talk about consequences.

They specifically did not make blood mage a specialty because of the issues with lore it inherently causes.

Wasn't this because of Isseya dying from The Calling? She was turning into a ghoul.

Eh, probably. Been a while since I read it.

But the hearing voices thing is still valid. Mechanics wise, blood mages sacrifice their Willpower for Constitution and it'd be cool if that actually had some kind of impact in-game. You're more susceptible to demons, after all...

Well it shouldn't even need to be gameplay changes but aesthetic. Advancing the blood magic spec could result in audio changes, hearing whispers behind the bg music eventually getting louder.

It'll be great to b*tch slap some Templars with our pimp blood mage hand and get away with it.

being the game will likely be in Tevinter the local templar are utterly lacking the anti-magic abilities of the southern templars.

Oh yeah...I wonder if they'll take the templar spec away. Tevinter doesn't have anti magic....

Like I said you have to think about the people in your inquisition. Cassandra would never let you use blood magic on her same goes with all the other companions I listed off.

Yah she wouldn't tolerate blood magic. there is also the matter that blood magic doesn't work on Seekers, they are immune to it, sort of why they are much better at dealing with them than Templar are.

I guess that it can be done, but there should be some limitations, otherwise it will be too much of an op ability.

Maybe some sort of willpower check that can work both ways.

If a blood mage’s wp is much higher than the target’s, he can control/hurt him. If not, the target resisted.

Same for the Seeker attacks: if the target’s willpower or focus is not high enough, game over(well, at least that ability is not resisted when used, and the target is weakened, wounded or suffers a debilitating effect for a while).
