I've had a few thoughts about it but that also stems from how fun I think it sometimes is to see how I imaging my character to be before the game's release and how I create them to be after the game's release. What remains is mostly in terms of which class they are and how they look in terms of hair and skin color, sometimes the name remains true as well. I like planning and creating the latter image in my head because I know appearance and name are the two things that I tend to take the longest time with.

Names - I went with famous authors, scientists and composers as naming choices in the Mass Effect trilogy so I may continue that tradition in Andromeda but I'm thinking of going with flower-themed names like I'm planning on doing in the next Dragon Age game. I'm awfully fond of the name Primrose but it may fit a fantasy setting more than a space opera setting. Clementine or Clem I like as well but I'm thinking of going with that for the first of my Fallout 4 characters and I tend to like different names for my individual protagonists.

Perhaps I'll settle for naming the character with an initial and Danger as a surname if it'll allow me otherwise I suppose I'll be going with Danger as a first name because I find that amusing, badass and an indication of the kind of people my character's parents may have been or my character themselves.

Appearance: I prefer to see a bit of the Character Creation like what options it has in terms of tattoos, freckles, scars and hair color before settling the finer details of my characters' appearance. So far I'm considering this in terms of basic appearance: a dark-skinned person of asian ethnicity, a person with albinism and a person with a Native American or Indian look. The first design I am also considering for the first of my male Pathfinder characters.

I also had a Saint Row character whose design I rather liked that I may use if the game allows it in terms of options: she had freckles, non-dark red hair and pale skin with flowery tattoos... and a high-pitch voice with a French accent but the last one would be a very surprising implementation. She was such an adorkable badass.

Class: I tend to play whichever class allows me to make use of a sniper rifle as my first character's class so depending on how much they may change how the classes are, I'd say odds are high I'll be playing an Infiltrator sort of a character.

The only exception I could see to that would be if our class determines an origin for our characters which case I may change class to whichever allows me to have the most civilian-like or non-combative origin.

Your character is going to be a badass, Shechinah.

I'm gonna make the most useless character the first playthrough, just to see how bad I can screw up the Andromeda galaxy. A soldier with minimal armor and only a SMG.

I had minimal armor and only a SMG in Mass Effect 2, and I still kicked Collectors butt.

Wow, talk about spoilers.

Not spoilers just you know basic information beyond "it's in a new galaxy".

I'll most likely be playing as an Adept if classes as we know them return... that's about it. Too early to come up with details, I'd probably forget most of it in 1+ year anyway.

Adapt is the one of the more entertaining classes. You can to slam people with adorable blue bubbles.

I wanted to try a Parangon Vortcha or a Renegade Asari. If impossible (only human CC), want to try to be a Leroy Jethro Gibbs in space. But for that I need to be able to punch my companions (exept the Krogan woman, don't want a shotgun ceremony...).

I would enjoy having your character as a squadmate.

If the game allows it, I want to have my character do what Shepard did in the trilogy.

I'm not a big biotics fan, but if BioWare -- sometime between now and release -- change their minds and let us pick an alien protagonist, there's a good chance I'd choose an asari commando with an unusual skin-tone and a cool facial/head tattoo. She'd be an adept and either extremely altruistic or utterly ruthless (strangely). I just don't imagine her as a middle-of-the-road kinda person.

My first character is always self insertion, so there's not much to plan.

I'll probably play a Vanguard first though.

Not yet... I usually wing it as soon as I get in-game. I feel like if I have preconceived notions of how my character should be, it would just make me frustrated if the game mechanics or background don't support it. :pinched:

I never plan anything but the name. The rest I just make up as I go along. My plans never really survive the game anyhow. Of course, planning out a badass vanguard that likes the thrill of battle did survive throughout the ME trilogy.

He shall bring Taco Bell to the masses.

Saint Bell, high lord of fast food, purveyor of the cinnabon delights, nacho bel grandes and cantina power burritos.  Infused with biotic taste enhancers it will lighten your step.

Planning as always - wait for the best announced (or possible) romance, choose the gender accordingly and play spontaneously (usually the paragade way).
Then planning other characters with more specific roles. However, the first usually ends up as my cannon.

First is always my 'me' playthrough, so I will try to be as close to myself (as I can imagine myself being in those situations - and those situations in-game allow me to be) as possible.

I'm waiting to see how the character classes, weapons, abilities, and companions will be set up in MEA before I make any decisions about the type of character I make.

Way too early without information. We don't even know much about the Pathfinder other than the little snippet of info given. Nothing about classes, background, personality options, what you can or can't do, generally I wait until I at least have some info to go by (to build my character around that world as opposed to expecting to play a certain type of character only to find you can't).

I usually do this, but in ME my first character design was almost immediately contradicted by the game.

Yeah I'm the same. Always play as myself first, then plan a type of character afterwards.
