A racist protagonist as in, we can say disparaging, racist non-pc things to the old races like the Krogans or the new races like the Khet.

It shouldn't be overtly racist like some of the diarrhea on the Internet, but just another option on how we want to our player character to be.

For instance, racist dialogue options can conform to a colonizers/imperialist/HUMAN SUPREMACIST character some people want to have in a particular playthrough or want to play as.

Think of Columbus and his views on Amerindians, and we are pretty much like Columbus and the Spaniards since we're going to an uncharted land(new galaxy).

In the end it will truly provide more ideological building characteristics to a protag by way of dialogue.

Ultra nationalist - Human Supremacist playthrough is a must. Xenophobia should be more explored in the ME universe.

I think you can be pretty racist in ME universe already, unless I played another game.

Eh. Technically.

Really the OP is asking if the protagonist can be pro-human in a way that he or she feels the human race is superior to turians, quarians, etc. (Did we not get that behavioral option in previous games? I can't remember.)

In a way, since humans are considered the more inferior race that only just recently, say, joined the spectres, then a pro-human protagonist wouldn't be racist but just biased toward his or her race. Bigoted at best. Racism implies that one must be the top/elite race and be in favor of perpetuating the sentiment that said race is superior to all other races. When you're down on the bottom, like humans kinda are in the ME series, it's more like there's a race-based bias, followed by bigotry toward other races/species.

Who would the top race be in the ME universe? Turian maybe? I guess they are the racists.

I'm always a proponent of more expansive play styles, so long as actions have consequences.

I would love if playing as a human supremacist were an option, so long as the characters in the world responded appropriately.  Some should rally to your cause, but it should cause massive problems with others.

As a fan of L'Etoile's writing, I thought Ashley in ME1 was interesting and had quite a bit of nuance to her, but a lot of it got drowned out because many wanted to use hating her as a means of patting themselves on the back for how open minded they are in real life, instead of evaluating her character and beliefs within the context of the story.

No.

In fantasy worlds, be it high fantasy of science fiction fantasy, the term 'race' has been used to denote specific character species, namely those that develop civilizations. It was made popular with writer's such as J.R.R. Tolkien, referring to 'The Race of Men, Elves, Orcs' Et cetera and has been utilized to this day.

Just double checked and here is the full description of specist: discrimination in favour of one species, usually the human species, over another, especially in the exploitation or mistreatment of animals or aliens .

Depends on what language or culture you are referring to. For some, the words race and species are synonyms, thus specist and racist are synonyms.

Bioware refers to the different aliens as races, thus the term racist is applicable.

Since this is a videogame, I would like this as a dialogue option whenever we have conversations with aliens. I really hope that there will be reactivity to your statements too.

No, you spelled it right since looking it up brings dictionary results. Just your Thesaurus website doesn't have it registered.

Though it should be noted that the scientific community considers using the term race to divide up humanity is both obsolete and innaccurate, since we are not different enough genetically to be considered different races. Instead, humanity is a single race thus the use of the term "the human race".

Thus alien lifeforms like we see in science fiction probably are also not different enough to have different races but are a single whole race.

Maybe "xenophobic" works more than "racism"? But that describes more of an aversion to other species/races. If the protag is just basically spouting "Go humans! Team human!" Then racism is the more appropriate term perhaps. Or Racial bias?
