One thing I like about crafting is the ability to customise item appearance. A frustrating aspect, however, is when the best attributes aren't on the best looking gear. It would be awesome if future crafting options separated attributes and looks. Each tier could have its own varieties (so we look "cooler" as we level), but select attributes according to player preference.

For example, T3 Superior Prowler Armour has 3 utility slots, while T3 Dragon Hunter has 3 defense. It seems quite arbitrary. If a T3 armour can have 3 utility slots, why can't I apply 3 utility slots to any T3 armour I craft? If I want Dragon Hunter with 3 utility or Armour with 3 defense, that should be possible.

Crafting could follow these general steps:

  1. Select armour weight;
  2. Select tier;
  3. Select armour style (appearance);
  4. Select attribute type for each slot;
  5. Select materials;
  6. Craft.

Same for weapons, of course; step 1 would be weapon type, step 3 would be weapon style.

Thanks for your consideration!

Best way to fix crafting is first get rid of tier'ed schematics. Schematics are the same and the materials determine the stats. As it stands 90% of schematics end up worthless due to their tiered nature.

I see your point in getting rid of separate recipes based on materials and simply make the attributes increase with materials selected. More advanced equipment could perhaps be handled by having a minimum material tier requirement (e.g, newbie armour can take iron or silverite, but armour of awesomeness can only be made with silverite).

Either way though, I don't think stats ought to be dependent on appearance - rather, allow players to choose from available attribute options at a tier (whether a schematic tier or a material tier), and apply those attributes to whatever armour appearance they like.
