Good. I wouldn't play a first person shooter as I need the assist that ME gives me for aiming!
Fallout 3 is an FPS and includes this thing called V.A.T.S., which is aim-assist.

Of course it would be. A change in perspective would completely change the dynamic of combat (if they wanted first person to be any good), that's a lot of work for a feature that's not essential to the game's success.
They should still implement it, it would make the game sell alot more than it could every manage.
Saying its too risky is just showing how lazy Bioware developers are.
I somehow doubt that perspective has a large impact on sales, or at least one that outweighs the expense of developing the option.

Nah, spoken like someone with an injury to her thumb that prevents the precision needed for good accuracy. Thanks for playing, though!

Blending TP and FP is indeed risky as one is likely to be subpar. And there's enough FPS on the market, seriously.

Nnnnnnno, sorry, I don't see why it'd be risky to have it as an alternate firing mode.

I'm not an experte, but: Couln't they make something like: Choosing between First person and "Over the shoulder" ? You know: scrolling with the mouse .. ?
I don't care about First Person, but we could attract a few customers more with it. ![]()

what's the difference? Isn't changing perspective just a simple matter of zooming the camera in or out? Why is this too difficult and expensive?

It indeed would be too risky, and its definitely wise of Bioware to stick with what's working.
I would be curious to see their attempt at a FPS/RPG though.

Good. ME is already too much of a shooter as it is.
it's 100% shooter. just because it involves more talking doesn't make it less of a shooter.

No. On the most basic level, first person requires new animations, HUD effects, and potentially higher resolution models to look good. Whenever you play a first person game, you're actually just a pair of arms coming out of a camera. For a cover based shooter, the gameplay might require certain extra mechanics (like cover peaking or something) to even be fun.

Not sure how changing perspectives affects how much of a shooter something is.
