It's kind of a dumb question, but there's certain patterns I always tint with, my favorite of which, is Royale sea silk. It's so pretty and has a certain class about the pattern. 

 

What about you guys?

I am just like you regarding the fabrics: I think that the Royale sea silk is georgous.

 

As for the metal part I love Stormheart. It looks a bit etheral but not too outlandish in the game.

Favorite: dragon bone. It's all about the bling.

These are the ones I tend to use the most: dragonling scales, silk brocade, halla leather, plaidweave, dragon webbing, infused vyrantium samite, snoufleur skin, varghast scales, drakestone, obsidian, bloodstone, lazurite, volcanic aurum, dragon bone.
 
Pretty much a palette of white/tan for neutrals, red/gold/deep blue for primaries, everything else for accents.

Like everyone else, I have favorites, but mine tend to be based on the character's coloring. I also use mods, so my color palette is a bit different than the one that shipped with the game. I've got Blackwall in black and silverite, Dorian in red, Sera in red (naturally) and dragonbone, and Iron Bull in dawnstone and Dales Loden wool. My dark-haired, porcelain-skinned inquisitor is wearing silken nether cloth and imbued tusket skin at the moment, but her usual outfit is (modded) pale pink.

Depends on the characters and class. I love tha avvar white plus a blue on rogues

I like to tint Cass's armor black and silver, because that makes her Seeker stuff look the classiest.

 

I always try to add a touch of plaidweave to Sera's armor because Sera. But I also found she can really carry off brown (there's a nice rich brown from the T1 cotton, if I recall correctly) and nugskin-pink.

 

I also tint Solas' armor a lot, because I usually give him rogue armor (for Flashpoint), and his cross-class armor has a blob of red stuff I don't like. It's probably the snoufleur skin, but I can't swap skins because it's required for him to wear the armor cross-class. So I tint it out after the fact.

 

Other than that, I don't do much tinting. I'll usually just tint if someone's helmet doesn't match their armor, or on warriors after crafting stagger gear. As much as Bull adores dawnstone, I can't deal with that metallic purple-pink color.

It varies quite a bit as I pick colours to suit each character, but Obsidian tends to feature heavily.

For my canon lady it was always Obsydian-Varghest Scales-Darkened Samite combo. She looked awesome in that and it quickly became my favourite combo.

 

As for my favourites...

Metal: Obsidian, Silverite and Stormheart. 

Leather: Dragon Scales and Ram Leather. 

Cloth: Plaideweave, Dales Loden Wool, Royale Sea Silk and Darkened Samite.
