Hi,

I was wondering what editing I would have to do to edit the Constructs Race (To the Lich bosses in the Gem Mines) and his Class in the OC?

Thanks.

I'm just guessing at what it is you want to do here, but have a look at the look at the matching row in the classes.2da file. That is where the basic class attributes are defined. Or are you looking to modify one specific creature? In that case I'd open up the gem mines area in the toolset and see what they have set up for that creature's blueprint.

Probably you'll need to use the toolset to edit the area, find out how the construct is manifested (via create object from a specific blueprint, for example), then work out a replacement to put in your override folder.

Wouldnt companions be used differently for editing purposes in the toolset?

In the end they're still defined by a blueprint and are accessed by a resource name and tag. Supply your new variant with the same identifiers and then it should work. The one question is whether the creature you want to replace is pre-positioned in the area or created by a script or trigger. If the former, then you also need to figure out how to replace the pre-positioned creature.

I would guess that the Construct is a script, since he's a companion further into the OC.

I edited and saved a blueprint but that had no effect.

once Construct is in your party, its effective-blueprint becomes a .Ros file in the current savegame folder.

TlkEdit2 can open and edit the .Ros file ...

Although you can easily use a script to replace a creature that was hand-placed into an area, it's more complicated for a companion since I believe the OC companions are all pre-entered into the roster before you even meet them.  kevL's suggestion sounds like the way to go.

i think so too. In fact i'm really darn sure they are (fwiw)

However(!) It might not be put in the Roster until the module that Construct is first met in gets loaded. After that point, when a save is made, the .Ros should show up in the save -- that does not mean that that's the 'blueprint' that spawns the Construct you'd intially see in-game, which might still be pre-placed or spawned from a different, stock resref. So, yeh, I suggest waiting until Construct is literally in the party, then edit its .Ros

Thanks, Is there a way to find out what the values are for the classes and appearances in the .ros?

I've got his appearance to change but had to set his .ros to Read only, not sure if that will cause any issues

I haven't found where to change his class to Spirit Shaman,.

reference Classes.2da, find the corresponding row# for Spirit Shaman ...

... appearances in Appearance.2da

uhm, which file exactly did ya set ReadOnly? The .Ros in the save folder? Shouldn't have to do that, I expect it would cause problems - because that file in that save can't can no longer be updated.

The .ros,I thought read-only would cause issues, When i leave Read only unticked the construct stays the same.

Do you mean the "Read-only" property of the file in Windows Explorer?

shouldn't have anything to do with it. really ...

if it does, beats me -- okay, are, uh, you saying that you can toggle whether or not the recent customizations show simply by going into Windows Explorer and ticking/unticking Read-only?

try loading the save, with the customizations active (Read-only i guess), then save the game to a new slot

close everything down, reload the new save -- that should save the .Ros to the new folder w/out Read-only.
