Ahh, that does sound familiar now.
Poor DA2.
My first playthrough of any DA game and almost all RPG is a cheated one with max level from the begining. I dislike discovery so the 1st pt is all cheated, I acquire all knowledge I need, test everything (that I can't find online, takes a couple of days before people post relevant data), builds, decisions, etc and then after knowing everything I need I start normal pt.
So my first DA2 pt was a level 50 one. Was funny, and not much different from the "normal" ones, except that epic items were useless, only scaled items were good at the time and the DLC scaling items were not available. Thing is level 50 in DA2 is like it would be in DAI, stats are useful but skills... well... you end up with almost everything, definetly more than you need, so I actually like not reaching 50. It we had more skill trees, specializations, perhaps it could be good...
But I think Bioware should rethink level/skill structure, we could have less skills but they should have levels and options (like in Trespasser or ME3)
Skills with levels is something that keeps the joy of levelling up without filling 300 skill slots, which is stupid anyway
I'd rather improve and choose features of, let's say, winter's grasp, than having 20 magics I will never use (because they wouldn't fit the slots anyway), this stupid 8 slots limitation is an opportunity to invest in skill leveling
