Figure I'd make a separate thread for this question.

I'm fairly certain cranial trauma system grants more damage on headshots than the heavy barrel.

Is this true, and why exactly?

While I'm at it, is there any other wonky behavior between cranial trauma system, passive headshot multipliers, targeting VI gear, and consumables I should know about, like some of those not stacking with others, etc?

Damnit, the title of this thread is so misleading.

According to this program http://kalence.drupa...34I56364!D6G56G
Everything stacks, and cranial trauma does do more headshot damage than heavy barrel. I think this is because of the standard headshot multiplier of x2.5 but me no know!

But it doesn't work on bosses right? Heavy barrel all day.

It does.

Is this true, and why exactly?

The short answer is that although both are "40%" bonus damage, they are different types of bonuses. Cranial Trauma increases the headshot multiplier, whereas the heavy barrel is just a run of the mill bonus.

All of them are applied.

  • Cranial Trauma alters headshot multiplier modifiers.
  • Headshot damage bonus from passive evolution and Targeting VI are both run of the mill bonuses that are added in only in the case of a headshot. They add in the same place most other standard "additive" bonuses do.
  • Headshot bonus from Marksman adds in the headshot multiplier section.

Yikes, so the m-11 having a 4x headshot multiplier would turn into a 5.6x with cranial trauma?

I'd just like to point out. Any tests with peddro or cyonan working on them are trustworthy data that should be read by everyone. Reading old test threads by them is where I got a lot of my information (I actually researched various aspects of this game :o ).

Also, Deerber is like a knowledge repository, and capn has done things no sane man should, he has played the game that much.

I'll tell you, that is actually not always true or necessary :P

Although I realize it's true in pretty much any real, not forced situation, so I'm just nitpicking, I know :P

Yeah, pretty much. It's what makes it such a great mook killer. Add in marksman and you get just shy of x7...

Thanks :) I've just been here a long time and always been interested in the mechanics, I guess.

But yeah, the real men behind all the knowledge in this game are the various Peddro, Corlist, Tyhw, Cyonan and others, and should really all be thanked endlessly.

What you need to know is the arc pistol is superior, in every way. Put the heavy barrel on, and if you hit the body instead of the head....well, it doesn`t realy matter. Dead is dead,

Really bosses are the only realistic situation where the headshot damage is higher with Heavy Barrel, since CT doesn't apply in that case.  Unless someone is going to run a Level 0 / no passive with no gear or amps.

How could I forget Corlist?!

I am a blight on this community, and must go live with my shame in the corner.

These guys are the pillars of ME3MP, it would still be an enigma of unknown formulae without them, and we would all be pawing in the dark on Silver.
