They've done it before so I wouldn't be surprised, and I wouldn't mind it. I played the ME3 beta (access provided because I owned Battlefield 3) and it was the first time I had played a Mass Effect game. I was instantly hooked on the series. I purchased all of the games and all of the DLC. I've put hundreds of hours, if not more into all of the games.
The beta is the only reason I got into Mass Effect. It was free, and I was bored, so I tried it out. I'm so happy the beta existed, because if it did not I probably would never have gotten into Mass Effect.
