The most I get is resolution. Everything looks pretty low res, was looking for graphics options such as texture quality and the like but I haven't found any such options in the in game settings menu or in the configuration tool. Mass Effect 1 had graphics options so I find it odd that 2 would not.

I haven't tried SweetFX for ME yet, but there are some presets here.

Are you sure there's nothing in the configuration utility? I just checked and it should look like this:

You can find it in Mass Effect 2\Binaries.

That's a great page! That's where I got mine - Natural Atmosphere by Vlidus. I don't use ReShade, though. I just use the SweetFx preset. It's more than enough and it's gorgeous.

It's a console port. So you won't find things like antialiasing, shadow quality, or the ability to enable things like triple buffering or turn off depth of field in the game options. ME3 does allow you to enable antialiasing, but it's not tweakable to your liking. One size fits all.

ME2 are generally low res. A lot of folks think it look better than ME1/3 was because the game was heavily tinted (red and yellow-tinged scenes) and overshadowed so you wouldn't see how pixelated it can be as the environment lighting and shading hid most of the uglies. The only real HR solution was to use texture packs but I think they're only available for squadmates rather than the rest of the game itself.

Show me where it has an option for texture quality. You know, low, med, high... that sort of stuff. Hell, ME 1 had that.

Ah, damn, I should've checked the options thoroughly. Sorry! My bad. Hm, that's weird then. You know, I've actually never noticed that. Well, that's inconvenient.

I agree that some textures can be pretty blah. But I got used to that with the other games even on higher settings. I generally tend to go for texture mods myself. They don't fix everything, but at least they fix the most jarring ones.

It had better art direction.  But the resolutions are lower than ME1.

There are various hacks and work arounds, but the actual in game or utility tunability isn't all that high.

Am I the only who actually wishes that they didn't add that effect into 2 and 3 where those huge black lines appear on the top, and bottom of your screen during cutscenes and whatnot? I always struggle with that when transitioning from 1 into 2, and never do I feel as though the change was for the better. This was probably a bit out of context, but, I wish there was some form of option for it in the graphics setting.

What sort of graphics card do you have?
I don't get the black lines you speak of in 2 or 3, so you might be able to fix it with your graphics driver settings.
In the NVidia control panel I have "Scaling Mode" Full screen, "perform Scaling on" GPU, & override the scaling mode set by games and programs.

I think you can tweak the ini files by decompiling the coalesced.ini into separate inis and recompiling them, provides vast array of options that any unreal 3 game would provide. Will need to google search the tool for compiling/decompiling is hosted by Bioware themselves. I think these params in Bioengine.ini should help - don't remember the exact name am just providing the description

Maxanisotropy

Floatingpointrendertargets, needed for AA

Multisamples

Samplertype

Maxtexturesize

Texturedensity

Maxnumberoftextures

Certain limits on Texturegroups- you can manually tweak the min, max and LOD for each to suit your taste - but  think you will need tex packs beyond a certain size

Further there are some more options on lightmaps and shadow resolutions which you should be able to find in the ini

Has anyone tried DSR with this game? - maybe you can provide an input for the same, don't use AA and DSR as a matter of personal taste :)

Personally I think the doom3 engine would have been the best choice for Mass Effects gloomy atmosphere - unreal 3 looks a bit plasticky and flimsy
