I predict Dorian will return at least.

Has a 'Dreamer' ability, from a prominent family who owns slaves but cares for their well-being, education and treats them fairly. And in turn, they love her back.
2. Ancient Elf, Arcane Warrior - Elf/Male
Real arcane warior with real swords (preferrably one that already had his cuppa coffee and in a less grumpier mood
3. Brotranto
(or maybe one of his brother/distant relative) classy Antivan with serious dueling skills
4. Magekiller - Dwarf / Female
Serious and respectable with mercenary background. But cannot stand the test of Ale or any kind of booze. Loves songbirds and feathers and chocolates and has a string of heart broken ex lovers.
5. Tal Vashoth mage - Male
From the "bottom of the barrel" ex slave, sold to the gladiator Arena, got kicked one time too many before he broke the neck of his handler when opportunity comes and escapes.
6. Dalish elf - Reaver. Female
The 'strong silent and then you get to die' if you ever get on her bad side. Shy, awkward but not clueless.

A Dragon Hunter from Navarri
Apearance: Has short, red straight hair and intense brown eyes, that aren't warm. He's also has slightly tanned skin, and a huge scar across his face (has about 2 of those) and his face is slightly freckled. His regular wear is a black coat (with his families crest on it, and no, he's not a Penghaust, mind you) and tanned pants, with black styled hicking boots
Personality: He's strong-willed, and is very scarscatic (at all times, just like Alistair) but he's cold in general, and even ruthless in his goals. He's no goodie two shoes, but the coldness and the snarky ness in a mask, hiding someone of honor and full of Justice. He is very perspective, noticing and taking notes on everyone. He's not a very nice person at times.
Sexuality: People want a Gay Knight, but I wish a bi one, so that my characters will not like look like a woman. Yeah, I love pretty characters (I'm a girl, don't hold it over my head please)
A frog Warror
Apearance: She's a elven woman, with long blonde hair in a brade, and soft emerald colored green eyes, she has pale white skin, and has lovely features, she has a burn on her face, along with mutilply different scars. Her causal oufit is a blue tanktop, and a normal peticoat, and grey leggings. Along with black slippers.
Personality: She's overall welcoming of everyone, she's often sentiment and believes strongly in morals. She's also straight up honest, she does not like lying, and has a iron will. She has an knack of telling the character to tell you to do the right thing, and unlike the rest of the current characters, neither believes or disbelieves any gods (including the Maker) exists, and as such, she is quite open minded of all people of all religions.
Sexuality: Straight restricted to elven or human men
A lower class tevinter Templar (not really)
Apearance: He's got slick dark brown hair and grey eyes. He's also got a funny weird feeling about him (just a feeling he's betray you in a heart beat). His causal wear is a Paige's outfit.
Personality: He's got a sliver tongue, and a charming smile. He's very friendly with the Dragon Hunter, and he likes to be alone. He is a loner, and got a poetic side to him. However, he's not trustworthy, he's only working for you to get payment for his family. So once he's done with you, he'll backstab you, unless you have a high relationship with him, in which case you can convince him out of it.
Sexuality: GAY. Yeah, I'm fine with this, because I have my own sir Knight.
Mages
A Tal- Vasosh Saabas
Apearance: I dunno, I suppose she's a nice looking Qunari
Personality: She has a great disliking of the Qun, after leaving it, she's become a selfless and graceful woman that hates slavery. She can be rather nasty when she sees others Saabras under Qunari rule (their bound by the mouth, and chained). She is 100% Royal to you, and will never betray you.
Sexuality: Gay as well
A not so nice Tevinter Magister (and a Dreamer as well)
Apearance: I dunno.
Personality: Not so nice, as the name implies.
Sexuality: Straight.
A Riviani Seerer
Apearance: She has tan skin, and long dark brown hair. Her eyes are a bright blue, and she has lovely features. She has a mysterious smile, telling everything but nothing.
Personality: The Anti Isabella, she hates having one nights stands, and generally listens to the law. She is lawfully good, and is a hopeless romantic. She also rather dislikes the sea, it makes her feeling pukey and sea sick. She is a good artist, and loves the Circle. She is a spirt Healer:
Sexulity: She's anti Isabela, so Straight.
Rogues
Scout Harding
You know her! She's bi.
A actual GW (another Dwarf to make up for the lack of dwarfs LI's) and it's a guy.
He's bisexual
A trained and tamed Dragonling, a baby dragon.
A pet, to yourself. The Dragon Hunter wants to slay it, but you refuse to allow it. After all, it's a damn cute baby dragon.

Bioware left her fate pretty ambiguous, so she might return
Okay, I thought she died. I just read it about it never really side with the templars. I tried but couldn't do it and wound up reloading to go to the mages.

Warriors:
* A dwarfen warrior from either the Carta or the Ambassadoria
* A Tal'Vashoth who defected from the Qun out of his/her own free decision
* An ex-Venatori/Red Templar who has been consigned by the remnants of the Inquisition to serve us (want to hear their perspective, their beliefs in the Elder One etc.)
Rogues:
* A member of an Assassin's guild outside the Crows (like the House of Repose, the Assassin's of Hossberg, the Praesumptori etc.)
* An alchemist/chemist/poison maker figure, either Qunari or dwarven (some who brings up "esoteric" knowledge without being a mage, time to show that not everything has to be magic or spirits)
* Scout Harding (face it, they would have not expanded her character in JoH and Trespasser if they weren't building her up as a companion)
Mages:
* An elven laetan mage from Tevinter (want to hear their prespective for once).
* An Avvar/Orth/whatever barbarian tribe-lives-near Shaman (to have a contrast between the "civilized" magic of Tevinter and the practices of the more "rural" humans)
* Yavana (because of her involvement in dragons, and if we go to Tevinter, she might be an interesting companion, as well as a bridge to the Morrigan/Flemeth arc).
And a golem. Because Shale was awesome and there has to be another like her, one who doesn't want to get turned squishy again.

Well, as long as he's as hot as Abelas, I wouldn't mind too much. It would be a shame to waste a predefined character, though, in my opinion.
That's fair. I just think Abelas is better served in an NPC role. I feel that if they were to use Abelas as a companion you'd run into the same thing that happened with either Merrill or Isabela; either they're going to exaggerate and flanderize his existing traits like they did with Isabela, or you're going to get someone so different they may as well be a different character all together, like Merrill.
With Not-Abelas, you have all the same story opportunities and free reign on personality.

Fortuitous violence on an animal? who is gonna stop the Hunter when I'm out? put a Dragon cultist or Yavana so someone will care for the creature aside the player, that also would provoke some interesting struggles with the hunter.

All that I feel that we can reasonably expect for potential DA4 companions right now is probably Lace Harding. I have suspicions about a couple of others, but for me I prefer to rule out anyone from the franchise that could potentially be dead in some gamers world states, so that does include Calpernia, Fenris, Iron Bull, etc. In Dragon Age, unless its Leliana or Morrigan, dead seems to be dead!
I would like to see companion from the Avvar clan of Movran the Under instead of a Fog Warrior for instance, although I hope to encounter the fog warriors as enemies. I'm not sure that Maevaris can be ruled out as a companion, but if Dorian does not repeat, then she is a shoe in for party member. Tallis would be an interesting full party member and while I think some people would balk at her inclusion, I say bring Felicia on!! I think that it is time to give us a chevalier as one of our warriors too.
What other new characters we get beyond that speculation is too much to ponder this far in advance?

I'd relish the comedic potential in pairing a potential Straight Man Abelas with a Cloudcuckoolander or unserious protagonist especially if Abelas doubles as the Comically Serious.

Plus, regarding Solas major role in Thedas' fate from now on, the return of a central character in Elven History, particularly that of Arlathan, the magical empire Solas wishes to restore or rebuild, DA 4 is a great opportunity for Abelas and many other elves such as him to make an appearance.

Well, it's a Dragon Hunter. (And I'd think I'd be more joking more than not)

I want a qunari tamassran, if not as a companion then at least as a prominent NPC. For three games every qunari we've come across, including the former and current Arishoks, have said they can't/don't want to explain the Qun. This includes Ben-Hasserath, who are technically part of the priesthood. Considering it looks like we're heading to Tevinter, a country currently being invaded by qunari, could we please, finally, get someone willing and able to explain and discuss the Qun with us?

I'll tell you something I do not want in the party; a companion for whom with high approval, we are their only friend.
Best/closest/dearest friend? Sure. Only friend? No. I don't want to be anyone's living emotional crutch.

But, wouldn't that mean that you're disqualifying anyone who happens to be alone/a loner from being a companion and potential friend?

It depends on whether Mythal supports Solas's plan. I'm not so certain she will support him. It really comes down to how he is written. But Abelas isn't Solas and he has others in his life that he cares for and would not want to see hurt. Also, if Morrigan receives the godhood then she controls the sentinels and I seriously doubt she would support Solas.

Yes, he'd have to earn our trust. depending on how much our new character knows about the whole deal. I think that would be very interesting.

Perhaps if Michel died in Inquisition, his appearance is because his meatsuit was possesed by Imshael as a final insult.
It'd be a completely obvious twist the audience would all see coming, but might be fun to see a prior decision like that impact the game in such a huge way. Either we can recruit the alive and kicking Michel as our token good teammate, or we're stuck with Imshael!Michel (or would that be "Imichel") as our token evil teammate... sort of like Samara/Morinth in ME2?

Not necessarily. Just that I would hope that by the end of their story arch they've become friends with at least one other party member, as well.

It reminds me of Fenris. He starts out as a loner and by the end he feels like one of the group. That's why Varric is awesome no matter what version of DA he is in.

I think this is the option. I belive Michel can be optional follower.
