How about combining the KISA stereotype with the dwarf warrior?  I'd love to see a Rock Knocker KISA type in DA4 since we'll be dealing with dwarves in some capacity, I'm sure.

I'd also love to see an Avvar, but I think that this could be a rogue (like a scout for his/her clan).

I think the KISA conversation had been happening for a few years.  I remember talking about whether Aveline counted because sort of maybe if you squinted might have flirted with FemHawke.  The "Blackwall can't be a KISA because he's straight" stuff just punctuated why some of us really want to see that character since it would really challenge the way that people view LGBT characters in the setting.

That could work out well. I think there would be some issue with female dwarf romance fans having the first male dwarf LI be gay, but then I was going to have the dwarf rogue who made my list be a lesbian so I can't say much on that front.

I'm also kind of set on my list of rogues(dwarf carta assassin, dalish ranger, fog warrior), though I suppose I could hold off on the barbarian party member, be it avvar, chasind, oth or an ash warrior waiting until DA5.

To give the full break down of what I had in mind;

Male LI's:

Not-Abelas, the ancient elf arcane warrior, would be the straight romance.

The fog warrior rogue would be the bisexual romance.

The ash warrior would be the gay romance.

Female LI's:

The Rivani Seer would be the straight romance.

The tal-vashoth spirit warrior would be the bisexual romance.

The carta assassin would be the lesbian romance.

Meanwhile the (female)soporati dragon cultist and the (male)laetan bloodmage would be in a relationship, possibly married, and would invite the PC to join them as a third member to cover the polyamorous relationship Bioware's been tossing about. This would count as a single romance slot because it's a single relationship that just happens to involve three people.

The dalish ranger - who I had pictured as a woman but could go either way - would be the not-LI.

Of course this doesn't take into account the potential for non-companion LI's.

Top of my wish list is a Fog Warrior...Warrior. It connects to my hope to see sort of a cross class character in game. Like the silent sister in MP.

Might be fun party banter to have the current white and black divines as playable companions.

I had kind of wanted something similar with Cole; I had hoped he would be kind of a mix of rogue and mage; like the spirit warrior version of a rogue.

Nope, just an assassin because stabby.

Also, they added a silent sister to MP? Might have to check that out.

I would like to think they both have better things to be doing.

Incidentally, partly the same reason I don't want any active magisters on the roster.

The Silent Sister is fun, but she's kind of a warrior/rogue hybrid.

And a Fog Warrior definitely would be interesting.

Yes they did.  And she is awesome.  Maybe a little over powered, but I could seriously do solo runs with her all day long.  Love her.

I seriously haven't played Multiplayer since, like, release. Looks like I might be missing out.

I actually tossed around the idea of including a silent sister on the roster - I've always loved them - but I feel dialogue is such a huge part of bioware games that having a companion who couldn't speak just wouldn't work.

She'd have to have a translator.  Maybe a two-companions-in-one deal?  :P

Cue the "Why can't DA4 have a companion like Quiet from MSGV" people!

I'm in favor of a Silent Sister provided that they don't have her wearing fishnets and a thong and rolling around in the rain while caressing her wet breasts........  Unless of course they have a super serious plot based reasoning like her being corrupted by the taint but mutating to require her to engage in photosynthesis to survive.

The Silent Sister is so great. It's a rogue who can build guard on hit like crazy. She needs to be declared the dwarven Paragon of martial combat.

What about a disgraced Magister?

It's the second thing on my wish list, though my idea is a bit over specific. I want a younger, more charismatic, more personally ambitious Tevinter version of Loghain.

I know that's starting to sound really far removed from Loghain. What I mean is, that he tries to tear down the current leadership of Tevinter for it's own good, and we have to defeat him before we have an option to recruit him.

Movies have done characters and told stories without dialogue; WALL-E comes to mind, as does the intro to Up.  I wonder if it could be done with games?  A lot of the "dialogue" with silent characters in other media involves facial cues and body language in lieu of talking...not sure if game animation is quite up to snuff for that.

I am in favor of this, but I think those specializations should be based off of existing specializations like Merrill's was a mix of blood mage and keeper and Anders was a variation on spirit healer. Basically, the idea is they each have a standard specialization but have their own spin on it based on their own styles and unique abilities. That's how I think it should be done, at any rate.

I had also considered that; silent sister and her second. But the odds of us getting two dwarf females in the party? I'm trying to keep my hopes somewhat realistic.

I could get behind that idea. My only thing is that I'd hope they'd have started Laetan instead of Altus, because that's a side of Tevinter we haven't gotten a good look at.

Oh, I'm not saying that it can't be done, period. Journey, for instance, is an amazing game with no dialogue in it.

I'm just saying that with Bioware's style and formula, I don't see them pulling it off.

I'm skeptical too, but DA:I was ambitious and broke the mold for BioWare in a few different ways, so I'll hold out a bit of hope for a Silent Sister :)

In lieu of a second for the Silent Sister, we could get another spirit companion like Cole or Justice, capable of communicating her thoughts with us.  But that might be a bit of a rehash, since we already got quite a bit of that with Cole.

I enjoy the companion banter too much to root for a silent sister, though I do really want another dwarven warrior. I'd take a dwarven warrior over another dwarven rogue in an instant.

Truthfully, I want Korbin, or someone just like him.

I'm actually against this because then the specialization isn't really unique. It's the biggest issue I had with them in Dragon Age ][.

Yeah, I had really wanted to put the dwarf in the warrior spot on my list.

Suppose I could switch out the dragon cultist reaver idea with a praesumptor theif/assassin and move the dwarf to the warrior slot.

I really want Servis to be a companion in DA4, but Calpernia and Maevaris probably have the returning party member slots filled for mages, so no luck for him most likely. For new party members, I don't really mind who they are for the most part, but I definitely want a laetan mage who's all for the Tevinter status quo and wants to be a magister in order to help out their suffering family or something like that. They'd be the anti-Dorian: ambitious go-getters that use their own skill and power to rise up above the ranks, as well as favoring blood magic (Spellbinder specialization, preferably) and being extremely bigoted. They'd have their own positive traits, of course, but they'd also be more like the typical Tevinter who puts on a veneer of perfection, and looks down on their lessers like slaves, elves, qunari, etc. Maybe by spending time with the party, they'd become a little less bigoted by the end of the game, but still not fully open minded. I'm thinking of someone with a personality like Ozma in this banter from Tactics Ogre:

Spoiler

Ultimately I don't want anyone who's pro-status quo because I think the game should be about hitting the status quo with a sledge hammer.

I'm tired of the status quo. Inquisition was nothing but enforcing the status quo. I want to tear down the system with my bare hands. I want to introduce a little anarchy. I want to be an agent of change.

Yeah, really. The only decision you have in Inquisition that affects real change is making Leliana divine, and that's more a testament to her status as a sue than anything else.

I was confused because, aside from Tresspasser making the College of Enchanters and Cirle of Magi exist at the same time, I didn't really see anything adhering to the status quo of southern Thedas.
