If you can look past FPS. Killing Floor 2 is pretty sweet and challenging. Much more than ME 3 ever was.
Games similar to ME3 MP?

Played the gow3 mp obsessively for years. I have a friend (yes, I have a friend) who would purposely go out of his way to kill sawed-off users and then pick up their gun. He would track them down again and gib em with itGoW3 multiplayer modes were pretty entertaining. Most of my Xbox negative feedback came from playing that game. Retro Lancer Anya FTSW. My wingman was SharpPrecision, with the Ice-T Sawed-Off Shotgun, another whiner bait weapon that pissed everyone off. If this game was available on PC I would certainly download it.
Good times....

Ok this is retarded. Firefall set a limit of 100 players per zone. Well I just did an instance, and I cannot complete the mission for that instance because upon zoning out of it, I got stuck on a "Zone is full (134 players) position in queue: 1 of 1" screen for 20 minutes now and counting. The only way to get out of this screen is going to be alt+f4 or ctrl+alt+delete
C-C-C-Combo Breaker
Well that sucks, never encountered that.
Shard hopping was definitely a mechanic you had to (ab)use to really get the good stuff though. Never had to wait in a queue for a shard, just hopped to a different one. Weooord.
Oh well. Dunno if I'll go back any time soon, we'll see. From what I understand the game is extremely different from when I was playing in the beta-days.

After 2 nights I'm already starting to get bored. I guess a large part of the common complaints comes from the open world XP Nerf. Now that the Job Posting Boards are operational, those are pretty much your sole source of XP, so you basically do the WoW thing and play a multiplayer game solo, grinding missions for your XP. The issue is that once the Job Postings were fixed, the XP from open world activities such as Seismic Activity spawns and Tornado chasing were drastically reduced. At least before, you would want to stop on the way to your Job Posting, but now there is no reason to stop, and Jobs can be 5-10 minutes of travel time in either direction.
After 2 nights I'm already beginning to feel this way while I am playing. I actually got bored at a Tornado and went on about my Job Posting business, since the Tornado just wasn't worth my time.

Games mentioned, so far:
Fuse - Not on PC or PS4.
Gears of War 3 - Not on PC or PS4 but I have completed the SP campaign on Xbox 360.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier - Will try.
Warframe - Tried it when it first came out, did not really hook me, will try again soon.
Bioshock 2 - Not 3rd-person.
Firefall - Currently downloading.
MGS V - Will play MP when the online portion releases on PC, currently playing SP.
They have revised the movement and combat in Warframe a bit. It's pretty fun especially if you like melee based combat. Valkyr frame is like the Shadow and Warlord had a love child.

That was my feeling the last time I downloaded it for an evening.
Previous to that, I did the sum total of like, 2.5 ARES missions, found it tedious and boring. Instead I chased Tornadoes (Which were different than they are now) and Invasions/Incursions. Once I was leveled up a bit and had some better gear I got into group thumping with some random people I met (via all that open-world-goodness) that were great at the game. We'd either use a big thumper or head out to the zones you have get keys for (Antartica and Sargasso iirc) and try to thump for oranges. Then I started in on runs through their instance which was pretty fun.
When I went back I couldn't even use the gear I had equipped because it was too high level lol. Had a tonne of "time points" (Whatever they are called) saved though. But it felt like they had gotten into a snit about everyone saying, "screw ARES" and were trying to lock you into their leveling system. Which IMO is pretty bloody stupid. But that dev team has a history of trying to stick to their guns about bad decisions and then having to reverse em. They had Duration on their items which was the reason I left in the first place. Made a huge post about it, had a few people basically try to drum up some absolute idiotic reasons why this was a "good thing" and left the game. The reason I went back was because I found out they had finally revised that monumentally retarded decision.
Instead they'd made a couple new dumb ones with a whole new set of reasons why it's a good thing. =/
Still had a lot of fun during those beta days, felt like the game had potential but the dev team needed to listen to reason a bit better instead of trying to make everyone play the game the same way embrace what you have (an open world) and run with it.

Got some more thoughts on Firefall:
- I see a lot of lazy. There is a mission generator, and in many areas, all of the missions keep sending you to the exact same 3 locations. Mission 1 will send you to Point A, and tell you it is a farm. Mission 2 will send you to Point A, this time it is a rebel hideout. Mission 3 will send you to Point A, now it is a secret Accord research facility. If any of these fail, the mission will automatically reset at Point B, which is likewise shared amongst all of the missions.
- The 1-20 zone World Boss is the Brontodon King, a giant mammoth, accompanied by a bunch of miniboss mammoths. NPC Poachers show up to kill the mammoths. You, the Accord Ares pilots, are there to, do... what, exactly? In order to get participation credit for the World Boss fight, you have to kill a Poacher or a Mammoth, in addition to damaging the Brontodon King. So are you there to stop the Poachers? Well you yourself ARE a poacher! The entire fight amounts to rival poachery, something I'm not entirely sure the Accord would sanction.
- This plays the lazy card too, because after progressing to the 21-30 zone, I discovered that the 21-30 zone world boss is... the Brontodon King, again, who drops higher level versions of the loot dropped in the 1-20 zone.
- A quest had me go try to convince an NPC that he needed to hire security for his mining operation. The Buzzard Gang showed up, I helped him fight them off, and then asked again if he wanted to hire security. He said no, because his brother is in the Buzzards and will help him if he runs into trouble... Totally missing that it was the Buzzards who just attacked him.
- Another quest was supposed to have me throwing prototype grenades at monsters in a sort of field test. I either did not receive them, or did not know how to throw them, not noticing until the very last stage of the quest chain that they had quietly replaced my motorcycle in hotbar 5. The mission description said to throw the grenades first, watch for the effects, then kill the monsters; however, I completed the entire chain without throwing a single grenade, and the npcs chatting over the radio were talking as though I had been throwing them all along.
- The Perk System is extremely basic, and mostly irrelevant.
- Word has it that there are periodic bursts of extreme server lag, though so far I've only experienced it once.
- Every time you engage in a Tornado battle, your operator gives you the same running monologue. It adds to the repetitiveness of an already repetitive battle.
- People are constantly asking in zone chat how to dismount from their motorcycles. Dismounting is either not bound to any key, or it is some other key than the mount button. I'm not sure which because the first thing I do in any game is remap the crap out of the entire everything.
- It is entertaining, and will probably plod along with a core playerbase for several years, but I don't see this ever becoming a mainstream hit.

Ok by "once" I mean it's been going on all day now. This is exactly the kind of crap that will make me not spend any real money on a game:
The parts where I strafe off, was all server. I was trying my damdest to land on it. Of course, combat is even more impossible than this.

For some reason I decided to try doing a mission. Hilarity ensued:
The Katy Perry background music was a result of Youtube Autoplay deciding that the video needed some Katy Perry background music, so I just ran with it.

During Beta, at least when I logged in a lot of hours for a month or two, there were no levels at all. You unlocked your battleframe abilities mostly through gear and merit badges that they tried to make you earn through their crumby ARES missions, but were instead much more enjoyably earned through open world options.
When I went back after they scrapped Durability (I said "Duration" in a previous post, wrong wording) the server lag was 9000 times worse.
Also the world boss me and a group summoned was, er. Much different. You had to push back the Melding using some Merit Badge acquired items on the northern tip of, er, the area that has all the huge coral structures. Sort of Mideastern region in New Eden. I forget the name of the outpost by it.
I thought their ARES missions were crap, boring, poorly made, and just downright pathetic.
But what kept me going were invasions/incursions with the occasional Tornado thrown in. The incursions were happening constantly, usually about three at a time. A random large group would get together and start stomping them, then you'd get the yell over server-chat that there was an invasion soon. Everyone would punch it to the invasion. I remember Thump Dump (IIRC? SP? North Eastern city?) actually was taken by the Chosen for four hours one night when there weren't enough people on that late. I remember going, "Oh wtf!?!" when the Meld swept right through and I found myself dying after the Chosen blew up the, Meld...stopping...thing..a..madeely.
I still remember laughing when I went back and saw that they had scrapped Durability which was a stupid idea, for an even worse. They really wanted to get people to do their ARES missions, but I don't quite know why, since their ARES missions were (And apparently still are) the worst aspects of that game. For my part the fun came of joining up with the group of people on the shard that were randomly thrown together to respond to these incursions/invasions. When things died down, which took the better part of a couple/few hours of working on it, then maybe you'd call a Thumper down or run their only instance at the time. Uhm, Blackwater Anomaly IIRC.
Last time I tried that game was last summer. IIRC I played the most about three years ago during beta. It's pretty bad if server lag is still that horrid a year later. =/
Oh well. I never spent a dime on the game thankfully.

A "Mentor" player who literally has just about everything in the game told me that Grenade Launchers are the "main weapon" for a majority of frames. That's especially funny since Grenade Launchers are in the "secondary generic weapon" category. Also you can deploy your ground vehicles as on-demand cover.
I did manage to screencap an image of the googly eyes for the thumbnail, though, so that's something positive at least.
Also I think it's around the time we get an, "And We're Done Here."
I'm honestly surprised we haven't yet. Though since we are badmouthing the competition perhaps that is permissible.

If you think the grind is bad in ME3MP, you have seen nothing. People who solo'd diablo 2 have seen nothing.
If you thought nuclear nerfing in ME3 was bad, you have not seen Scott after a lunch consisting of 12 beers and two Long Island Ice Teas. (I'm not even kidding)
Killing Floor 2 on the other hand, requires pretty sharp skills and spatial awareness.
As for upcoming, Vermintide is on the horizon and supports 3ps or 1ps, and Eternal Crusade will be 3ps when it launches next year.
