I'm kind of new to the series too. I bought the trilogy many months ago but only recently I played the game.

Played ME1, thought it was cool. Started Veteran ME2 but I wasn't that much into it in the beginning. But then, I got hooked and addicted. Finished the game very quickly and started Insanity ME3, which I finished in 1 week.

The series are so good I start ME1 again right away with a Renegade Vanguard FemShep. I'm now playing ME3 again.

The game only loses in story to Metal Gear series, but it's the most involving game I've played. You get a bit emotial about the companions, planets, races, the Normandy, Shepard, powers, classes, weapons, etc. In summary, about everything.

I'm even got Platinum trophy for ME2 and I'll get it for ME3. I won't do it for ME1 as the effort is way too much and it's the worst of all 3.

If you're replaying ME1 over and over again you should also eventually get them all. I'm on my 4th run and still haven't platinum'ed it, but I'm slowly getting there (missing the Lv 60 and Sniper achievements).

If you're trying out different classes and powers anyway, it will add up to the count of some of the achievements, and running the game with various squadmates to get their trophies as well is fun too, hearing all the banter etc.
I'm in no hurry to get the Platinum, as I know I will replay ME1 over and over as well anyway

I think the worst for me was the MP trophy in ME3. I'm not an MP person, but surprisingly, it was actually fun, though I haven't played MP since. I just strongly prefer SP.
