Don't spam come here.

I spam "come here" all the time.

Most people here aren't smart enough to use cover even when they clearly can't take the dmg.

Promotionlords aren't smart either but at least they can take the dmg.

That's your use for it. This is a thread asking for tips. Generally, the people spamming come here won't be using it to tell people to get into cover. I admit there are a few rare times where someone is actually spamming it to tell others to get into cover. Nonetheless, a view to the contrary is always welcome.

I really do "come here" when the player in the party walks past the door they can open. Just a friendly heads up. I have been In a party when everyone was running around spamming it, don't know why... It just happened.

Do higher difficulty runs have a higher chance for better gear? Or a character that has been promoted will have better quality items when they open chests?

The treasure room chests do point to a different loot table depending on the set difficulty. Routine, Threatening, Perilous all have their own specific loot table. Nightmare/Heartbreaker share the same loot table.

Or a character that has been promoted will have better quality items when they open chests?

No. The only factor is your "loot score". The # of items (not the # chests bought) you obtain from the store increases your loot score.

Do it once if it seems like somebody really did just miss it. A lot of people prefer to clear the zone first and then go back for treasure rooms. It's slower but in a way it's safer: the larger rooms have a chance to either A) Have another group of enemies inside or B) Spawn a guardian miniboss when you try to open the chest. Obviously it's not an issue if you have somebody capable of soloing the bloody run, but if you're already struggling as a group, then having somebody run off and die or unleash a Revenant into the group from behind can spell a wipe.

Higher difficulties do not directly influence the quality of gear drops. The higher difficulties do have increased chances for a treasure room chest to directly give you an item instead of gold, however there is no correlation between difficulty and the quality of that item. You're not guaranteed a high level or a rare or unique just because you opened a chest in Perilous instead of Routine.

Edit: Did not know there were specific drop tables for difficulties. Learned something new. Thanks, Wavebend!

The way that Promotions factor into your loot is your efficiency. Those stat boosts are very individually minor, but they're permanent and cumulative. As you collect them, your characters (all of them) get more survivable and do more damage. That translates to more successful run completions and faster and smoother runs, which means more gold on the larger scale. More gold means more chest purchases, which means higher loot score, which means better drops (over a statistically significant sample size, always that disclaimer, also known as I HATE YOUR GUTS, RNG, but that's neither here nor there.)

Sorry, what was I talking about? Right, efficiency. There is no magic method that guarantees you a Level 27 purple item, first time, every time. Promotions enable you to gradually but steadily power your characters up.

Of note are perilous and nightmare dragons. Perilous dragons can drop level 24 of the dragon weapons which are pretty good for a newbie. They can also drop level 26 blues and purples, which are very rare. Nightmare dragons on the other hand, drop the best weapons in the game, (cept one, but the Crescent's Shadow is a super, super, super end-game goal) the Hakkon weapons, which all have unique effects and +100% critical damage. Loot score (which Wavebend mentions above me) stops you from just getting these items instantly, iirc it's 100 items looted before dragon weapons drop and 600 items before Hakkon's can.

Promotionlords aren't smart either but at least they can take the dmg.

Nice generalisation! It ain't exactly smart to make such comments either.

When a PromotionLord just stands there and takes damage it is because it is a waste of time dodging attacks. It is all about maximising the kill/clearing speed which helps the team's XP & Gold gain/ Time.... now that is smart!

For some reason people think that PromotionLords started with 100+ in all stats and forget that PromotionLords have been through the whole Newb, Scrub and Lord cycle.

PromotionLords are not proud to admit it, but back in the days of their Newb and Scrub cycle, they had to use the environment tactically and rely on barrier. They also suffer from night terrors from when they had to rely on others!

The Promotion Lords are a bunch of DBs that will not help new players.  They will never carry lower level players and always play in public games.  In the off chance that they do play in public games, they will never give advice and will just teabag people when they die.  They are the worst people to ever get stuck in a group with.

....  I wonder what the people that have actually played with the promotion lords (on PC) think?  I've only seen the opposite.

FTFY

Obviously I'm not saying every promotion lord is an idiot. It is just that you might expect expect that after hundreds of games you can rely on some basic standard of skill/common sense and that simply isn't true. There seems to be barely a difference in style when compared with players much fresher to the game. Some are good, some are average, some are just plain bad.

Promotionlord =/= smart      is what I'm saying.

When a PromotionLord just stands there and takes damage it is because it is a waste of time dodging attacks. It is all about maximising the kill/clearing speed which helps the team's XP & Gold gain/ Time.... now that is smart!

Yes, well I've seen tons of evidence to the contrary.

-Promotionlord goes out into the open and dies.

-Promotionlord goes out into the open and plays like he's on the phone.

-Promotionlord goes out into the open and abandons all notions of crowd control.

-Promotionlord goes out into the open, completely ignores the 3 weaker players that can't/shouldn't follow him.

They got nothing to do because he's taking all the aggro and overal DPS sucks.

For some reason people think that PromotionLords started with 100+ in all stats and forget that PromotionLords have been through the whole Newb, Scrub and Lord cycle.

Again, this doesn't always show. In fact once they got tank many seem to be in a hurry to forgot everything they've learned in the beginning.

PromotionLords are not proud to admit it, but back in the days of their Newb and Scrub cycle, they had to use the environment tactically and rely on barrier. They also suffer from night terrors from when they had to rely on others!

Yes, clearly farming without any consideration/attention/thought whatsoever is how you should spent hundreds of hours in this game. And any other game for that matter.

This post was not meant to offend the many promotion lords I have played with and not played with, just being critical here.

Feel free to be offended if you play badly.

And don't be lazy, you know I'm talking to you.

I just started playing for maybe a week and a half now and so I think I'm doing ok? I'm having trouble trying to figure out what class is good to solo with since I don't like being a burden to groups with weak gear. I currently have Templar, katari(?), elementalist, and duelist unlocked. I've also been trying to understand the armor/weapon crafting? Do we only further upgrade the weapons and armor we already have? I apologize for the questions, just trying to figure what I got myself into lol

Hey, Rival, you can add me on Origin if you want,

Am always looking forward to adding new friends.

I usually play in Perilous & Nightmare, would like helping you power-level, and it's totally OK if you just started out.

My Origin gamer-tag is Infernal_Yehzoos, looking forward, TC!!!

:)

I see the douchebaggery is still rife, play and have fun while it lasts then find a new game would be my advice. Addicted to Fallout 4 at the moment, it's amazing.

i enjoy playing this game still after more hours than i would ordinarily consider good (origin has my count at over 2200 hours) for a healthy life, I have about 80/80/80 in promotions and normally can carry a full group of fade watchers on the difficulty i'm playing (I prefer not to though) sometimes I will allow people to bleed out because if I stop killing stuff i'm likely to die (which seems ot upset others) an then we will suffer a wipe, other times I will stop and be mr revive (depends what char i'm using and what level it is) often i don't care about a wipe so long as the team killed the nug + the random large creature and i got to hit said random large creature because it all counts towards that elusive 5k large creature kill count .... often times i will play like a complete newb scrub not paying attention and spending half the game in the fade but if i ever stop enjoying the game play i can always boot up another game :P

Don't worry if you feel you are a burden :)
Just keep leeching and you will become a good player soon enough. No one would care any more at this stage to be fair, so long as you can at least walk to the circle at zone 5 (failure to do this will 99% get you the boot) and open treasure rooms.
Oh, try leech on NM difficulties only. Don't count on HB because you probably won't find any good pug groups for that.

Spam friend request is always the way to go.

Don't die trying to keep up the player with the Hakkon's & dragon armor.  Generally if I see a player in starter armor, I will try to keep an eye on them but only until they pull some stupid sh**.

If you see people grabbing treasure rooms, don't pull them through to the next stage before they can complete it.  If you do please get on your mic and apologize.

Finally if you feel the urge to mouth off over the mic over a perceived slight, be prepared to get red skulled and verbally assaulted.

I pulled alot through over the weekend, even when they were getting chests.
For some reason people wanted to get gold on a double exp weekend...I said screw that lol.
Hence me getting 75 promotes over the weekend ;)

LOL if someone is confident that they can run ahead and solo, let they be.

If they can indeed pull it off, then great, you finish the match quicker.

If they can't pull it off and died trying, then also great, you get to teabag him.
