Hello everyone! This is my first post.

I've decided to go back for my fourth play-through of the ME trilogy.  My original time playing the games was back on the 360.  I haven't touched them in well over a year.  I don't even have a 360 anymore, I switched over to PS3 for The Last of Us and then got a PS4.  I exhausted myself with DA:I and Bloodborne and now I'm bored waiting for Fallout so the time seems right for another telling of Shepard's story.

I'm surprised to find myself asking, "How did I miss that!?"

Last night I caught up with Matriarch Benezia and freed the Rachni queen, then I decided to head back to the Citadel to inform Admiral Kohoku of the sad news his team is gone.  Having done that I went for a jog around the place, just to enjoy the scenery, and thought I'd stop in and say hello to Dr Michel for no reason.  Imagine my surprise when I found her being threatened by some nasty sounding individual over her intercom thing!  Being the helpful Paragon that I am, I immediately offered my assistance and was soon off on an entirely new sub-quest that I've never seen before!  Turns out I'm looking for some Barnes character who may or may not be dead, and it seems Admiral Kohoku might have some answers for me! *face-palm*  I hope I can find him before Cerberus do.

My wife always tells me I rush through games too fast and miss a lot of cool things.  I tell her nope, my playstyle is fine, she just spends waaay too much time investigating every. little. corner.  Now it looks like she's probably right, because how can I have played the trilogy 3 times and never once went back to see how Dr Michel was doing!?

Anyway, just thought I'd ask, as a way of saying hello, does anyone else have any stories of things they discovered in Mass Effect, after thinking they'd seen it all?

I think there was a thread of little things people discovered but im looking for it now and it seems to have vanished... So im not sure whether I was dreaming about it or it got moved >.> Though the very first time I played through Mass effect 1 i missed the scene in Eden prime where you get to see the smoking crater sovereign causes and also a scene with Kaidan and Ashley on the citadel wards :)

Yep, I missed that first time as well.  I think most people would have to be honest, since it's kind of hidden behind the Beacon.

I'll check out this discoveries thread.

I missed the UNC: Hostile Takeover (Helena Blake) mission in my first few playthroughs (I've played ME a lot). I was pleasantly surprised when I unlocked the 3 extra uncharted worlds.

Have you ever done the Suspicious gambling machine on the Citadel? I really enjoyed that assignment.

When I finished Mass Effect One for the first time this year I was very satisfied with the game as a whole. I enjoyed it so much I decided to go back and start again. As I was playing through Eden Prime I found a small group of smugglers that locked themselves in a shed and can only be accessed by hacking the door. I missed this the first time cause I was killing geth but when I did discover it, it was an interesting bit of conversation with a cool renegade option to point your gun at the smugglers and threatening to kill them if they don't give me money. Overall it was a cool bit that I found while on my second playthrough.

Sadly you never meet Banes. He's just some background plot dude that Kahoku and Anderson are aware of. Everyone else assumed he was long dead.  You meet some of his cronies though.

The regenegade option on the building before that is even better. "Say goodnight Manuel!" :D

I just discovered I could kill those Salarians in Saren's base.. the ones in the cell next to the sane one you can free.

I'm pretty sure I've seen just about everything though.

I never noticed that the Destiny Ascension flew past the wards until someone pointed it out.

I missed something even more obvious the first time I played:  that you could aim while paused.

I did that often, but with a controller/pulling up the power wheel. It's a good way to be a little tactical sometimes.

Well, there are surely lots of things I'm also still not aware of (I'm only on my 5th run), but I always assumed you get the new character dialogues about their past only after completing the main missions. Nope, happens after doing a couple of side missions already

I found out that you could do that recently, but I never do because then all your crew is talking about how you're so close to finding Saren after only two proper missions.

I think the human squadmates' dialogue only advances with story missions. In my LP I really wanted to get all of Ash's dialogue before making a certain fateful decision about her, but she was only interested in cleaning those rifles.

Maybe it stops at some point, or maybe you're right about human squaddies. I got Liara's talk when she says she's interested in Shepard beyond the beacon shortly after Therum. Or maybe the game tracks how many story missions you've done. For the first time I did Feros first, then picked up Liara, got her talk about asari culture and her mother, then did a few side missions and got the above mentioned dialogue where she hit on my Shepard

You can talk to them after any completed mission (be it a big mission or side mission). But Ash's and Kaidan's dialogue won't reset when you ask them about the status of the last mission. They only make comments about that particular question when it comes to the main story missions.
