Now I'm not saying everywhere should be accessible in the Next DA but It would be nice to finally see the full world map in game, or a 3D globe, or maybe some sort of expanded menu map that can zoom all the way out.
Next DA needs a full map of Thedas

Thedas is the continent, not the world. But agreed in a way. I'd love to see, and find out the names of, the rest of the world beyond the oceans surrounding Thedas.

I'd like to see even a full map of known Thedas. I haven't seen one, though I'm sure the devs have one... The war table map helped me understand where things actually are in relation to each other, at least near Orlais or Ferelden. It would be nice to be able to do that for the rest of Thedas.

I suppose the next game will encompass the northern parts: Anderfels, Tevinter, Rivain, Antiva, Seheron (& Par Vollen?)
If I have one wish, it's to really take note from Skyrim this time, and make it an actual living, breathing world, in which I can travel from city to city; rather than environmentally interesting football pitches with remainders of an abstract culture that could be anywhere.

Perhaps they'll eventually do with Dragon Age what they're preparing to do with Mass Effect: Shepard's story is over, so they'll displace the story away from the Milky Way. Once the Dragon Age is over, and the Unveiled (or whatever name comes next) Age begins, they may decide to write sequels happening in other landmasses.

Skyrim: according to the lore, the region is as large as the state of Colorado. When playing, it's the size of the city Macau. It's not a living breathing world: it's a virtual theme park when your character walk from one ride to the next.

Well, what can I say - If the world of Skyrim was too small for you, then we have different standards.
I don't really care about sheer size; it's not like the worlds in DAI weren't huge. It's the interconnectivity that makes or breaks the illusion for me. I know that Whiterun is south of Mortal, because I literally just came from there - the Western Approach and the Emerald Gardens could be on different planets for all intents and purposes.

I'm a Geographer: I'm physically incapable of not noticing every time a game gets the scales wrong. I can bear it when the map is divided into subsections like in Inquisition, or Xenoblade or FFXII, but for me, unless they're depicting an urban setting it's the contiguous maps that break the immersion

The problem with seperated maps with no hub towns in them is, like I said, that they could be anywhere. This is actually what reminds me of a theme park: Pick the desert, the woodlands, the icey-thing [...]
If I don't realize that the surrounding gets cooler and snowflakes start to fall, people wear warmer clothes etc. it doesn't mean anything. It's not part of a world, it's a world in itself.
edit: to make that clear, I'm not saying Skyrim is the goal to strive for. I'm merely saying that I generally favour their approach over unconnected levels.

I'm not a geographer, but I have the same issue. When the scale is wrong, the world is an absurdity. Skyrim (and TES games, or open world games with a single map like that generally) are total nonsense to me, because nothing makes sense in it (e.g. "cities" are 5 isolated cabins, etc.).

They spent so much "time" on Ferelden, then Orlais that Thedas became boring. A lot of people want to know other regions but I want to know what is beyond. They spent 3 games on Ferelden/Orlais but "showed" a lot of other places so we kind of know them (know they exist and a bit of their cultures as well as come citizens), I'd love to know more, yes, but if they keep being this slow to show other places when we will see Rivain? Antiva? and so on (Tevinter is almost confirmed as next game location)
Thus... when will I see what is beyond Thedas? In DA9? =(

And, I mean, once you've revealed that map, you have revealed that map. WoW could get away with going "yup this is the whole entire world" only later to change their mind, saying "no, wait, THIS is the whole entire world. No, wait, THIS." but it's only because WoW is that kind of a beast. These changes are generally accepted with mmos. Although they are not entirely immune to whinging when it comes to its maps, even if justified by the plot. I still remember the screaming following the announcement of Cataclysm. *shudders*

Your asking the Devs to commit to something they may not have plans for? Unlikely to happen, no need for more retcons later.

This.
I don't think we'll see a complete map or globe of the entire world anytime soon.

Agreed and agreedI would be entirely satisfied will only Tevinter as long as the map will offer us well-developed and tighted to plot regions with beautiful cities full of interesting npc with non-linear quests.
For me its better than a great map of the whole world full of nothing

Took you two lines of text to say what I needed two paragraphs for. I feel like I should go and seriously reconsider some of the choices I made in life.
