Yavanallis (Staff)
All mages can generate guard. Elementalist is a beast with that and firestorm. Stand in the middle of any FC zone on NM and firestorm every 10 seconds for CC and full guard.

self combo: WrathofHeaven then Spell Purge
I think you will find the damage from the combo interesting enough. Particularly on demon faction.
Rest of Templar bores me.

Some characters USED to be able to generate guard really well until that key ability was tossed into the dust bin in favour of some new much worse ability for them.
"That was brilliant!"

Livid+upgrade generates guard when surrounded and costs no stamina. Long recharge, but that is why I keep Shield Wall to fill in the gaps.
I walk into a group, pop Livid, pop WoH and then finish with SP. This is commonly called the Wombo Combo and it is awesome like cheese. Well unless you're lactose intolerant, pick a different awesome in that case.

Avvar could use some enhanced guard generation for NM. It's okay how it is on perilous, but he lacks a bit of survivability on NM imho. Or I could just l2p.

With Belinda I use Shield Wall, Livid+upgrade, Wrath of Heaven+upgrade and Spell Purge+upgrade. Always get the Mage Killer passive, which allows WoH and SP to affect many different types of enemies.

I hate shield wall. The only time I use it is to deal with shield guardians and that is it. I kind of want to be dealing out damage rather than turtling along towards an opponent hoping they will shoot me or attack me. I also find it not very practical at all at some higher levels where you are getting mobbed by opponents. If livid seemed to do the damage increase it claims I might have a different opinion. My short Little tests indicated it was not doing what it claims offense wise.

Afterthought: Equipment helps too. Belinda wears a blue HoK ring, purp guard damage ring, purp amulet of con, purp health belt. purp armor with magic and melee armor perks. lvl 24 Bitter Axe with +21 attack / +27 crit chance perks and lvl 23 Shield of the Emperor. Promos 28/27/30.

Correction: better on Lego, worse on Templar.

Could be, could be. The worst part of it is the apparently faulty damage bonus. The one test I was doing I was getting about 10 more points of damage with livid rather than 10% more when fighting a single opponent.

definitely not what i felt when using it. either way the damage resist definitely makes using livid more survivable than war cry, but less useful to the party. then again in heartbreaker war cry can net you a dead legionnaire if your not careful which is even more useless to the party
