There weren't any children in the trilogy except the visions Shepard kept getting of the Catalyst and the Stargazer's child. I think there should be children in ME:A, if we are supposed to colonize the Andromeda galaxy it would be very difficult to do so if no one has children.

I doubt they would make it, resource for new models on new engine would limit a lot of what they can add in the game. That's the main reason why most alien races only have one gender and DA2 doesn't have female dwarf. Maybe in subsequent games, I doubt they would add it in this game though regardless of whether we want them or not.

If we do in fact have an ark ship or a home base colony, there should be children of all different species running around the hub. Having people of all shapes and sizes goes a long way for the immersion of the game.

I'm not to worried if there is or isn't any children in the game.  Although it would be cool to see certain species in their adolescence... If it's too taxing to create character models for, I am fine with it.

However, we have see a Turian child (Garrus) in the comics, I believe we see Thane's son in the comics as well.

I agree that would be nice to see, if resources allowed it. Children are now a rare sight in Bioware games nowadays. Unless they're "special" -_-

resources should allow it. It doesn't seem like a crazy amount of work. TW3 had a few running around the streets of Novigrad or playing in some rural village. In MGSV we had to rescue some. I mean, I just can't see how it'd be a stretch on the resources by rendering a few character models representing younger members of a species.

Though, it's not a huge deal to me. It's not a deal breaker or anything crazy. I just feel they should start to fill out the setting with the finer details that are possible with the new hardware. It allows the world to come alive like we haven't seen.

You know the moment children get put into the game the very next question is going to be: "Can we kill them?" Just look at Skyrim or Fallout for prime examples.

Still, having elements of 'children in danger' could be interesting plot points if done well. I abhor quests where you have to rescue stupid children from predicaments that they brought on themselves though; if little Timmy is trapped in a cave full of ravenous Dregloths despite repeated warnings to not go play there, I say let nature take it's course.

But seriously, if we are going to have children in the game then they should be a part of the game world; and subjected to the potential dangers and horrors therein. One of the most powerful moments encapsulating this is when I first encountered the baby Necromorphs in Dead Space. It was a shocking realization, but one that made sense; I mean it's a force that kills and infects any biological matter; and help drive home how monstrous they really are. Imagine if we had to fight converted children in Mass Effect. Being forced to kill baby turned husks would have had a lot more impact (IMO) than repeated dreams about a random kid running away from you.

No, and unless we're going to the mall we should have little reason to expect them. Maybe if it involves diplomatic missions, but there are very few of those.

The new generation of consoles could probably handle it... probably. But Game journalism, journalism and government sensorship probably wouldn't accept it. I would expect it to be banned all over the globe.

As for game development, we're in the equivalent of the Silent Movie era of films, for gaming. When ever something explicit happens expect a sign that says explicit content, use your imagination.

WE've actualy had zombie Children and Babies in Movies, but Movies are far older as a medium than PC/console games, what's accepted in a Movie would cause an uproar if put into a game and cause politicians reach for the banhammer.

Probably because there are several generation of people still out there who thinks games are a thing for small Children only. People like my 74 year old mother. Who seems to think there is something wrong with me if I play a game, that's a Childs toy what's wrogn with you.
Therefor games are generaly rated as Childrens toys even when they arn't.

While it would make sense I'm not sure it actually adds that much. Tbh, somehow, I found that baby zombie the creepiest of them all even if it was most likely the least dangerous. Killing helpless Zombie Babies wouldn't make a good game. But people are sensitive about Babies and small Children.

The closest thing to seeing children in the game is probably through dialogue and hearing them in the background playing or whatever.

I think that would be alright, maybe a small whiz kid as a NPC that is a genius in technology and plays in the vents of the ship or something like that.

I'm usually against children in games, unless they are like semibigish characters like star child. Generic children always look like goblins.

I wouldn't propose putting them into the missions or involving them in the story. Just have a few children npc's (human and alien) running around certain parts of the world with minimal background dialogue.

As someone said earlier: it'd be a bit odd having an ark ship intended for the preservation of civilization without the inclusion of kids.

If they are NPC and it's not too expensive, fine, but not in gameplay.

Gosh, I hate missions when you have to protect kids or other NPC. Let darwinism do its job  Give me someone useful like Elizabeth in Bioshock.

Also, relevant when mentioning kids in ME

I think kids are unnecessary in ME. We got one kid and we know how it ended.  Although I'd really like to see krogan's children. :)

I think there should be human children in appropriate hub areas, but not out in conflict zones. Maybe alien kids too?

We do. There's also a Turian child offered to a Reaper artifact in the comic, Evolution. As well as how Saren and TIM were indoctrinated, but different story.

*SQUEAK* ELCOR BABIES! HOW SWEEEEEEETTTTT!

Elcor child: With indignation. Father, get me that dolly.

Elcor parent: With moderately contained rage. I already bought you a dolly last week.

Elcor child: Dismissal. That dolly did not have an accessory set.

Elcor parent: Agitated. No.

Elcor child: Desperate plea. Please.

Elcor parent: Resignation. Fine. Mischievously, do not tell your mother.

I have serious reservations about introducing child characters to Bioware games, knowing the fanbase obsession with romances.

It depends on what they think they're getting into. If they traveled on some sort of generational ship, then yeah, kids would be around (it's inevitable). However, assuming that instantaneous wormhole travel is involved, I would lean towards no kids being present at all because it's more sensible to pack a ship with useful adults who have the technical and scientific skills you'll need in the brave new world(s) versus children who are just resource drains that don't actually contribute anything useful and would just get in the way.

Video games are particularly awful at both writing and voice acting for children.  If they can be done well, sure.  But since they're usually done so poorly, I'd rather just not see them in the game at all.  Little Lamplight in Fallout 3 is the thing I hate most about that game by a fairly wide margin.

Extra Credits did a pretty good video a few years ago on why children are usually so bad in video games:
