no kids please, they add nothing to a game, adding kids feels like the devs try to drain the last drop of compassion out of me and it's not working. That's reserved for animals. If they want me to care make a planet inhabited by kittens and now we're talking. Must protect at all costs.
The thing they add is a bit more life to the background. They don't have to speak or be characters we can interact with, but it is kind of strange to be in an area filled with civilians and not one of them has a kid with them. I felt this was even more of a problem in DA2 and Inquisition, because we go to a city or settlements filled with refugees and everyone apparently left their kids in the woods for the demons. I doubt it would be such an enormous drain on the devs to have NPC's of more varied sizes roaming around. I don't think compassion really needs to be a part of that. It's just giving more attention to detail.
