Hiya, kinda new to this forum but i have had an annoying problem which i cant seem to figure out.

I started a save on the OC made it as far as Act 2 before realizing, a Swashbuckler is pretty weak, so i decided to change to something more powerful, after doing some searching and finding i build i quite liked, i looked around for a way to change my characters class from swashbuckler to fighter, i tried using Character editor, but it didn't allow me to change it, i tried Tlkedit and leto, but i must be doing something wrong because it doesn't change it at all, i am at my wits end wondering how to change, i really don't want to do act one again(it was pretty boring at times). any help would be appreciated and i can provide screenshots and the build if neccesary.

You know there are console commands you can use to do that. What build did you had in mind?

console commands cant change the first level, believe me i tried, but this is the build i was going for

http://nwn2.wikia.co...),_WM(7),_FB(6)

and just for some more information ive progress a little into act two, but im ok at starting again as long as its in act II, if there is a command or something to place me in act two that would be ok, but then i would if it would let me remake my choices, i dont wanna start at act II with bad choices and such

I can't help you with your problem, but I can tell you that the build you linked is actually pretty bad, and not necessarily an improvement.

There are lots of builds around for swashbuckler / wizard characters. If your character's intelligence isn't too bad, then you could de-level some of your swashbuckler levels and replace them with wizard levels (you really only need three levels of swash for Insightful Strike). Many swash-wizard builds take Eldritch Knight as a prestige class, although a few levels of Weapon Master (rapier) might be useful as well (at least five, probably no more than seven).

You have misunderstood, im trying to remove Swashbuckler, i wanted a nice duel wield heavy damage build without having to start all over from act I

I think that will only take you back to level 1 swashbuckler.
You could try this though
Save your game as a level 1 swashbuckler.
Open the saved game playerlist.ifo with a GFF Editor
Scroll down to class list (should only have 1) & change 59 to 4.

It worked, sorta, it didn't change my class, instead it made me select a new character, but it is where i want to be, ill just have to cheat some levels and Story related feats. only one problem, i don't know how to get my journal entries back.

Did you make yourself level 1 first?
When I tried it, all it did was change my level 1 swashbuckler to a level 1 fighter & didn't effect my journal.

Go back to where you started this thread.  Read this post:  http://forum.bioware...nment-and-race/

Note that reply #4 is a link to another post;  that other post has errors which are corrected further along, so it's best to read both before starting.

you can use console to delevel your char, but the first level you took cannot be changed that way

Or use golf rules, "play the ball as it lies."

On my first play-through I ended up with a final PC that would only make me shake my head in disbelief if I were to come across it now.

I still had fun.

So you get stuck with one level of Swash', what's the worst that could happen? Be creative.  ;)

Clangeddin85 recently posted a mod that lets you rebuild your character ingame.

Incidentally, for future reference, if you or anyone else wants to recreate your character from level one. It can be done with the level editor. It's just a little ugly.

First you create your new level one character in game, then you export that level one.

Then you'll need to open the character you want to replace, put all his items on a companion / completely strip him.

Then you'll need to go in the editor again, take note of the XP, Gold, Law/Chaotic/Good/Evil and the feats (most/all of the ones you want to reproduce are History Feats in that tab, don't place general feats or anything you would obtain in a level, you only want to retain your characters history). Finally take not of your companion influence.

Now go file>import character and import your exported level one of chosen class. Now update the XP, Gold, Evil/Law, Feats and Influence. Now save that character and open that save file in game. You should be able to level that character to your hearts content. I know I did this 3-4 times as I leveled through OC/MOTB making mistakes along the way.

This can be done much easier with the NWN2 Character Editor from this site: http://neverwinterva...haracter-editor

Reversing levels in the same campaign just requires you to click the "remove level" button a couple of times, and you can keep all the alignment gold, influence, xp and items.(however, not the feats, but if you require, you can make note of them and then give them back) Then you just redo the level-ups ingame.

I actually recently reseted my level 30 character for a new campaign (but removing all xp too). Instead of the above method I however edited my old original level 1 generated character from way back at the start of the original campaign. The idea was that in case I ever want to reset again, I can then just add whatever feats or equipment I got to this universal startout template.

Well, it worked, because with that Character editor you can even transport items between characters. To make it easy I put everything into a bag of holdings, and then exported the thing, opened another instance of the editor, and imported the loot to my level 1. Then I got him all the history and most of the whatever feats that he acquired before, and the characteristic improves (but not the skills).
