We know that they are generally correct with obvious things like Katari has the most health, Saarebas and Assassin the most damage, etc.

However what we do not know is what these values represent. A percentage increase?

We can infer that they don't represent stats like Willpower, because otherwise every character's attack bar would be equivalent to their magic defense bar, etc.

The question that led me to this topic was, "Can you cap out defenses at 80% before 160 promotions, or are these values unique multipliers that don't affect the cap?" If you can cap out, then reaching 160 of every stat might not be so crucial after all.

Are you asking if you can get the 80% defenses before 170 in each stat? If so then the answer is yes. You can attach con/cun/will to weapons and armor to give you a bump in each. So yes 80% defenses can be hit before 170/170/170

A while back the bar was proven to be meaningless.

Just ignore them.

I think what he is talking about is the character select screen.  If you look at each one they have different values for defense. For example the AW has maxed out magic defense according to the bar graph and the Lego has very little. I think he is asking is do those translate into actual defensive numbers or is that graph just an indicator of how well each one handles that type of damage based on their class abilities.  As far as I know, it is the latter.

Really then why does it seem to be true for the Katari (highest health) and Saarebas (highest damage)?

I think i understand now.

I'm pretty sure it just shows the the difference relative to the other characters. such as Katari's hp one being large because he has a larger health pool than the others so his will be more full. I don't think that is actually translates to numbers just a visual representation of what kind of character each class is..If that makes sense, it did in my head

Alright then, thanks for helping me out guys.

It does make sense now that I think about how the armor bar is only a visual representation of the character's actual armor that you craft.

However it still feels like attack and health are directly related to the bar graphs, last time I checked Fade Cloak does more on the Necro than the Arcane, does it not?

It most likely is because, like Beer said, if you change belts those bars change too

I think that they translate into actual numbers that are not disclosed to us.  Or, like the old philosophical question, rendered into modern day physics, yes, the tree falling in the forest when there is nobody around does make a sound, yet we have no way to translate that into usable data, since the measuring apparatus is hopelessly broken and thus, we are left deaf to the profound implications of the ancient oak's demise, since we are clueless to its fall.

Katari always had higher health than Legionnaire regardless of the belt. Rogues and mages with higher attack ratings appear to be directly affected by it, but I'm not sure it could just be a placebo effect.

Either way the only important part of this thread was the defense percentages

I love how when I put the Superb Belt of Health on, it can make the health bar go from 1/5 to full.  Yep, that 200 health really just quintupled my health.

Or how most things don't even change the bar at all

From the start, I always saw the bar graphs as a visual representation of the character in regards to it's final form (level 20). The Legionnaire has a lot of physical defensive capabilities (passives, skills, armour), the Katari has the highest health at level 20, the Duelist has a lot of high-damage abilities. It's to kind of give a player a brief summation of how the skill trees of a character measure up compared to other characters, potential weaknesses, and what role they can generally fit into.

Base core stats. Some start with +5 willpower, some with +5 strength, etc.

Dude, you probably switched from the Inferno/Storm/whatever belt to a health belt.

Taking more pot-shots at me for using those belts, huh?  Maybe if you weren't too afraid to use those belts you would know that equipping them does not change the bar graph at all.

No offense, Wave, but do you have a source/proof for this?
