Just a quick question,

When you just get to Skyhold do you go straight into crafting tier3 armor and weapons +upgrades?

In my new playthorugh I am using trails "Even Ground" and "Take it Slow", I also plan to put on "Walk Softly" eventually and im using the Golden Nug for the first time. But I am now lvl9 and at early game skyhold and not sure what I should do Schematic wise. Should I just jump to using tier 3 things as I have these trails on.

Or continue to use tier 2 things( as I dont wanna feel OP at such a low lvl)

Thanks in advance

also im on Nightmare

Your choice. Do you want to play the game hard, or do you want to do it with a lot of easy gear?

I use it to cut out the farming.

So I use the gear at a rate I would normally acquire schematics in a normal playthrough.

I also use it as a way to get some usage out of the later acquired schematics that are outclassed normally.

If you don't want to farm for hours to get schematics later on, use the Nug.

With as many playthroughs as I have I'm always using it to get the best armors early. Of course, they are a lot better than low-tier stuff, but you also only have tier 1 materials for crafting. So you will upgrade later on.

It's all to personal preference. An optional reward when you complete the game at least once.

I've only used the Golden Nug in the reverse direction, from lower XP characters to highest XP character, my canon IQ from my first PT. Some of my lower XP characters rolled luckier than the highest, so when I want that special bow or that particular armor from PT3, I can get it without having to farm for it.

I don't use my lower level characters just as farmers. It just worked out that way. I had five PTs in various states when the Golden Nug appeared, but only one had completed JoH when Trespasser was released. So everyone else kicked up their goodies to the eldest. Sync goes both ways, of course, so the lower levels got stuff too. I just haven't played any of them.

You can still be OP with Iron.

Very true. In fact, Cotton is a pretty awesome material, even though it is only Tier 1.

When you have a mountain of T2 Mats is probably a fair answer. Level 13-21 I think is the range they intend.

I'd say it's right to upgrade when the Black Emporium gets the new materials. T2 at around level 10, T3 at 16 and T4 at 19-20.

Level 21 is far too high to still use T2. I never even got to that high of a level in any playthrough yet :P
