Does Golden Nug sync cross all saves, or just most recent?

TL;DR - are sync'd items available to the character at all points in their career, including earlier pre-sync saves, or only in saves after the sync is done?

Suppose I have two playthroughs, PT1 and PT2. Both have saves from Haven and saves after some late game milestone, say, right after What Pride Had Wrought (Pride, hereafter).

PT1 loads a save after Pride. Does a Golden Nug sync. Does not save.

PT2 loads a save after Pride. Does a Golden Nug sync. Does a save.

Now PT2 definitely has the union PT1 and PT2, but what does PT1 have? Since it didn't save after the sync, if it reloads the save after Pride, does it have stuff from PT2 or not?

One more scenario:

PT1 loads a save after Pride. Does a Golden Nug sync. Does not save.

PT2 loads a save after Pride. Does a Golden Nug sync. Does a save.

PT1 loads a save from Haven. Does a Golden Nug sync.

What does PT1 have in Haven? The union of PT1 and PT2, including stuff from PT1's own future? Or just PT1 at the time of the save at Haven?

----------------

Syncs are two-way, but if they are also timebound by saves, they can be made to act as if they are one-way, by reloading a save from before the point in time where the sync was made.

If they are not timebound, you can replay from any point in the character's career with whatever items were sync'd. Want a do-over against Envy, but this time with Tier 4 everything? Go ahead.

You can cheese the hell out of it, if that's what you're asking.

The only thing to point out from your examples is that synchronization is not automatic (you have to click the little rat for it to happen). Loading a save (or starting a new game) by itself doesn't do anything.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding, but are you asking if you

-PT1 :Buy a schematic\

-Use golden nug

-Don't save

-Load PT2

-Use nug

-Save PT2

-Load PT1

-Buy different schematic

-Use golden nug

-Don't save

-Reload PT2

-Use nug

-Save

-Repeat

=============

Then yes, all new schematics should be synced up with whatever PT2 you use

This is how I got all the expensive schematics in Hissing Wastes and Black Emporium without spending a penny.

takes a bit of time, but you can buy more stuff in trespasser if you need to, such as the abyssal maw(sp?), whcih IMO is freaking cool and I wish I could craft it!

Haven't gotten to trespasser yet.  I just started JoH yesterday on my canon inquisitor and on the lookout for any dropped schematics or any to buy.  I got quite a few from Descent the other day and could buy up plenty of Tier 4 mats for making anything I wanted.

From what I gathered you don't even need to load another playthrough and save.

To put it simply, every time you interact with Golden Nug, you add items to something like your online database. Items can't be removed from this base, so even if you interact with Golden Nug then reload without saving, the item you added would be there, no matter if any other character 'received' it. So the only steps you need is: save -> buy -> interact with Golden Nug -> reload -> buy -> interact... and so on.

I hope what I wrote is understandable.

If I understood you correctly, then... You need to save after interacting with Golden Nug for sync to affect that particular character. Even after that, only saves after sync are affected.

Thanks, everyone! You all helped me understand this better.

That makes sense.

So I will think of the Golden Nug like a Storage Chest for Schematics, Recipes, etc. (full list here: http://forum.bioware...the-golden-nug/), with the important difference that it is available to all play throughs and characters, including the same one (PT1 to PT1). You can send stuff back to yourself in the past. Of course, you have to replay everything in between if you want your previous self to keep that item. You can also send stuff to yourself in the future, even by cheating merchants out of their gold (buy on credit by using a fake credit card, as it were).

Yes, that's exactly it :)

It's really helpful if you're hunting one of new schematics that were added to war table operations. I spent whole day opening old saves and checking which operations I have available, just because I was searching for new schematics. That saved me from making specific decisions from future playthroughs just for the sake of one war table operation reward.

Well there is this amazing looking 2H sword (an eyeball on the hilt and teeth as the blade) that is 184,000+ during the Trespasser beginning.... pretty cool
