I...know? Your a warden-recruit until you undergo the joining but duncan said that getting the blood "was as much a part of the joining as what comes after" so...that means blackwall started the joining?

If you give him to the Wardens, he becomes a Warden in the two years between Inquisition and Trespasser. I think he mentions that Blackwall had him go after the blood, but he never did the ritual, and I'm not sure what became of the blood, it never came up again. When he came out of the cave, Blackwall was dead. So, he's not a Warden when you meet him.

In Last Flight a number of mage and Templar refugees from the war turn up at Weisshaupt asking to join the Wardens but for the majority their joining is delayed.   So I would imagine they would be classed as "recruited", sort of apprentice Wardens and then full members once they take the joining.

If Jory was not considered in some way already a Warden, then what Duncan did was simply murder.    I assume that Duncan feels he is justified in killing him because he has disobeyed an order from his commanding officer and drawn weapon on him.    To have done so if not considered "recruited" would have been simply self defence because Duncan was trying to force him drink a potentially lethal concoction.

The reason for Jory's death is given in game right when it happens: There is no turning back. Jory was killed to protect the secret of the Joining.

If you make Blackwell a warden does he remain with the Inquisition until you defeat cori?

No, being recruited means that you're a recruit. There's more to being a Warden than being recruited, you have to actually survive the Joining. No retcons, no lore overlooked, just grasping for another "plot hole"...

Dude, your arguing ageist what the very codex says.

If your recruited, you're a warden. A warden -recruit, but a warden just the same. This is stated from dao.

No, I'm not. A Warden recruit is not a Warden. Any Warden can slay an archdemon, providing they can win the fight. No Warden recruits can, because they lack that one defining thing that makes them a Warden, the Taint, which is contracted, normally, via the Joining. Let's not pick and choose what lore we want to use to support a point, it's unbecoming.

He was killed because Duncan sucked at recruiting people. Jory was clearly mentally incapable of dealing with any psychological strain. Really, he could have avoided the whole issue by not opening his speech with "and then this is made out of magically enhanced darkspawn blood".

There is that, Jory really wasn't a good candidate from the start, but he's there, not much for it after that point. However, the ritual is part of the Joining, just like the little speech Duncan has Alistair give.
