I`m not sure if this is the right place to ask this but am I the only one who does not like Leliana? Or bored with the whole character.

She has her own DLC, she has been in all three games and I  would not be too suprised if she appears in the next game. Even if she was killed during DAO.

It is hard to say why i dislike her. Maybe , because we have learned everything about her. Her history, her personality and the way she thinks. I just hope we don't see her in dragon age 4. I think it is time to let her go.

I just think she is too perfect. And this might sound odd because she is not really 100% perfect. She has her own flaws/faults (what is the correct word?) Maybe she is a writer's pet?

She wasn't one of my favorites in Origins and I didn't really care much for her in Inquisition either. I didn't dislike her, I just found her bland. In Origins, I was bored with her stories and cringed when she sang. I can see why people like her though especially if they romanced her. I'm reminded of people calling Kaidan bland and I disagree as my Shep romanced him.

Looks right, then left; you are on the Bioware forums of an EA server, despite many unkind reactions you may receive for your observation and opinion-you are in the right place. There is also a character and discussion section if that is what you intended to post about.

Leliana having a resenting base in the fandom is not a real spoiler. But she is very lucky!

I liked her better in Origins, tbh. She seemed happier and there was more of a life spark there.

In Inquisition she was all depressing and broody. Mind you, I did harden her. The blunt rude dialogue options that result in that are too hilarious to deny.

In DAI She was badly written and rather boring when she wasn't being Princess Stabbity and should probably be left alone in future. At least then they can stop writing "I'm very happy with the Warden and that's why we're always on opposite ends of the continent" dialogue.

Pretty sure Leliana is done as a character after DAI. Something just feels really final with her epilogues. And I liked her.

I think Inquisition dropped the ball on her, especially with her personal quest. She's so much of a Jekyll/Hyde character that I find it really hard to believe in any lasting positive development on her part, and the charismatic mystic/reformer angle of Divine Leliana strikes me as really weird because Leliana has never shown any tendency to be a leader instead of a follower. Sure, she's probably supposed to be really good at manipulation, threats and other aspects of the "Game" (though Inquisition rarely allows her to show any competence instead of messing up left and right), but I have a hard time seeing her as a genuinely inspired and inspiring spiritual authority, especially since her faith seems to be based entirely on "whatever makes me feel good must be right".

I don't hate her, by any means, but I just don't know what to make of her anymore.

I kinda ending up liking her more after Trespasser. I wasn't keen on her without that DLC and the fact she's in every game  does annoy me (I want more Sten, Shale and Zev). Liara in the ME series was the same, her personality/character (I liked her being a geeky scientist) changed to fit the storyline and again I wasn't a fan.

Her character development, specially the 'why' of why she does stuff has been a little too shallow.

In Origin I found her a little vapid specially compared to Morrigan because though she was supposed to be this mysterious spy / assassin in her former life, most of what she talked about was all Maker this Andraste that. Very preachy and vanilla. She had her moments and some of them really touching, like the bit where she sings in the camp, but that was it. Leliana's Song DLC expanded on her personality but I still feel they could've done more.

Inquisition went two steps back. Her entire personality was wrapped up with ruthless vs kind. I mean even till date I do not know WHY Leliana is motivated to save the world. What drives her? Is it just her religious fervor and faith? Is it her dedication to the late divine? Just what?

That said as she's a returning character from Origin, I don't think I'll ever find her dull. But they could've fleshed her out more. Made her a little more compelling.

Loved her in DA:O.   She's not bad in DA:I, but nothing special.    I can't see them bringing her back in DA4.   Her story is over now and would have no reason for her to return.

Leliana was boring in Origins, but her DA:I self is one of the most badass female characters in the series.

I don't really like her either. I'm stuck with her dummy attitude in Origins in my head. In Inquisition she had sort of a badass character but I thought the change was too drastic to tell myself : yup, she's badass now. Just let the damn woman dead.

I actually much prefered her in DA:I. Didn't really like her ditziness in DA:O

Glad I`m not the only one who thinks this way.

But what I find a bit odd is that  how much our protagonist had influence on her. He/she could change how Leliana behaves/sees other people with couple of words. And she does exactly as we say or thinks like our protagonist.

The word sheep comes to mind. She was basically the same with the Warden, only less so I think. Leliana has always seemed to 'need' someone to follow.

Yeah. She might be insecure of herself... but still she should think about what her actions does to people. Not every solution is to kill someone. She doesn`t have to do everything someone else says.

I have never cared much about her. No hate, but I just never connected to her in any way.

In DA:O, she was just that odd and strange woman, residing at the party campsite, talking about shoes.

Liked her more in DA:I than in DA:O, and her DLC helped flesh out her character a bit, but yeah, I don't really have any need to ser her reappear again.

I like her, I was glad she was in DAI. I hope she returns as the canon Divine for the next game.

The two appearances in DA2 were a convincing transition for either path of her personality in DAO; while DAI had every right to harden her to the boot with the death of her dearest friend, yet it still somehow didn't get to me - I found she switched back and forth too inconsistently at times, during which was meant to be a nice wink to her past (nugs etc.).

Basically I'm saying the same as most others, I'm just not sure whose fault it was.

To each his own, I guess, and no you're probably not the only one

Everyone has their favourites and least favourites.  Personally I liked her, but more when she was being devious and rogue-y rather than religious.  But that probably says more about me than the quality of the writing....

I do get where you're coming from though - fwiw my least favourite characters across the franchise are Anders, Sebastian and Sera
