My one and only trivial request.

It may seem trivial to some, but this is a legitamate request from a long term DA player and mage main.

I request two of the most iconic spells to be returned:

Fireball & Ice cone

It was a disaster to not have these two spells in DA:I, and while I accepted the loss of these two spells, I will never give up on them.

Just cast flashfire and make explosion noises with your mouth when it hits.

Problem solved.

You are missing a syllable in your name, OP. :P

As for the topic, I'd like DAO's pace of combat and DAO's fireballs and ice cone spells back. If DA2's come back instead, I'll stop playing for good.

That's not trivial at all.. Compared to some requests I've seen ;)

On top of that I'm sure a lot of people want blood mage spec back.. Personally, I want the berserker spec for warrior.

I loved Cone of Cold. And how can you not have something as iconic and basic as Fireball? Berserk was fun too. And Hexes. You know, just give us most of the old stuff back, it was great.

I really do miss the classic Fireball. The sight of a flaming projectile hurling through the air about to impact.

I liked Cone of Cold, but Firestorm is pretty OP in place of Fireball. I miss Crushing Prison the most.

I miss Cone of Cold and would like to have it back. Immolate is pretty much Fireball by another name, though.

I'd really like Crushing Prison returned, though. And the Glyphs.

Immolate and an upgraded Winter's Grasp do what those two spells do - better.

Immolate is instant, and can be targetted over obstacles.

Winter's Grasp hits targets at full range.

Not quite. Those are advantages, yes, but Fireball knocked entire groups of enemies over, making it a great crowd control and damage spell. Cone of Cold would completely freeze multiple enemies (including the Archdemon ), which Winter's Grasp does not.

Yeah, I found the mage spells in general to be lacking in DA:I. They just weren't as fun to play as they were in DA:O and DAII.

There were a lot of spells that were way too situational to deserve a place on the 8 slots.

For example:

-Flashfire

-Mind blast

-Revival

-Lightning bolt

-Wall of ice

-Horror

-Veilstrike

-Disruption field

Not many people actually worked with those spells. Unless for RP reasons or they had nothing better to use.

I have played about 10 PT's, 6 of them being a mage.... never used lightning bolt....

I think Veilstrike is good, but in general, yes. You can't make your mages as diverse as you should be able to because you'll have to use the most general purpose spells just to be effective. All of the good, but more specialized spells are seldom used :(

I tried it out last playthrough. It was pretty good (especially for combos), but the mana cost was absurd (seriously, why do this and Winter's Grasp have such high mana costs for only doing a tiny bit of damage and immobilizing an enemy?) Had its own animation though, which looked cool.

Well, I'm doing a PT with ALL my abilities unlocked on Trespasser (2 years later with the item dupe of AoP), so I'll probably use it come when I get to that point! :)
