I did the same. Replayed a game to get Dorian and Bull together.

The problem I ran into was: Trespasser. Seems as though the party banter is bugged....again. Thus I was having a hard time getting anyone to speak.

In the end though I finally got the Bull/Dorian Romance.

This is what I did:

Install Cheat Engine.

Then download the banter attachment file, found here.

*You cannot be in a relationship with Iron Bull nor Dorian.

*The relationship your currently in must be locked in.

*This happens late in the game. I finished, Abyss and Wicked Hearts.

*I added Dorian and Bull in my party and wandered around the Graves doing quests etc. Eventually Bull asked Dorian if he was going to return to get his underwear.

After you get this dialogue, return to Skyhold and speak to Bull then Dorian.

Congrats! Bull and Dorian are locked in a relationship.

Note:

Having Cole in your party ( I found out) makes no difference. I had Dorian, Bull and Varric and the banter triggered just fine.

If Cassandra and Bull did not have their party conversations of Bull hitting on Cassandra. The dialogue will change once Bull and Dorian are together. Also Cassandra will comment on this pairing too.

I'm trying to get this banter to trigger too and it's infuriating, I don't want to kill time farming because it's mind-numbing so I did all the Danish favor quests, The Fairbanks quests and the Sahrnia quarry quests with just Iron Bull and Dorian and only got about 1 conversation during each. So far I have them up to Bull flirting. They haven't slept together yet.

How do you trigger banter with Cheat Engine? I'd love to know.

Tried to use Cheat Engine for gold once and it didn't work, so I just abandoned it :P
Edit: nevermind, just read the post above.

Will be trying it :)

I just ran as a group of 3. It helped A LOT. After every banter I went back to skyhold. Not sure if that really helps though xD

Last time, it took hours of wandering around the Hissing Wastes with JUST Dorian and Bull in the party to get their romance banter. Seriously, over two hours of circling the wastes, and they only bantered three times, and two of them weren't "romance path" banters. I thought they'd never hook up.

I really hope they come up with a better way to handle banter next time.

I suggest wandering around Frostback Basin if you have Jaws of Hakon.  Banter seems to trigger much more often there.

Took me having both their personal quests finished, before the Arbor Wilds, and then I have to WAIT for SIX HOURS for the dialogue to trigger.  *eye twitches*

Same for Blackwall/Josie dialogue.  I DON'T know why, but that's how it worked out.  Since I was already done with most quests, I found a nice camp in the Hinterlands, and just sat there till it triggered.

If you're going to get them together, save the Chargers. The other outcome is ... unpleasant.

That's true! It seemed like it triggered more often there for me too.

I cannot confirm, but I heard a rumour that they will only hook up if you are locked into a romance with someone else.

Perhaps this is the key to getting them together...?

If you are going to play Frostback Basin before end of main game then that is definitely a good place to get the dialogue between companions.   For some reason the trigger points must be closer together or something there.   If they companions have already completed their dialogue sequence then it tends to go back to the beginning and start playing them through again.    They only start talking in Descent after you have completed the main quest - at least that is how it was for me.

The Storm Coast seems another place where dialogue seems to trigger more easily.

HONESTLY, since I have played Inquisition in PS4 since it's release and therefore I can't cheat banter to happen anytime I want it to... I can CONFIRM that the suposed "patches that fixed banter" actually screwed it up harder. If you are in a console, you might want to delete patches, dialogue will trigger after any random fight. After patch it feels I have to wait, sometimes 10, sometimes 50 minuted for banter. I believe Bioware actually intended it this way you know? That they made the patches slow the banter much more so that we would hear it less and make us play it more.

Specially for pro players. Because a newbie its always exploring and "burning time". While after the 3rd playtrough you do things straightforwad for you already know where you need to go... And you spend less time exploring therefore have almost no banter.

In my first playtroughs, Cassandra and Solas would banter every 5 minutes in the storm coast. And in my last one, banter I would hear at Hinterlands would trigger when I'm nearly level 19. Then again, I'm sure patches are to blame in a big form.

I installed Descent and Hakkon on my Xbox One and suddenly BANTER BUG WAS FIXED! 4 playthroughs in. The third I'd abandoned because with no banter, the game was an unbearable slog a third time around.

Emerald graves Cole + Bull + Dorian got me the most frequent banter exchanges, 9/10 after finishing a fight.

Got a few more on Storm Coast, just chilled on a lovely rainy hilltop with the two of 'em for a bit.

Then finally Emprise de Lion DELIVERED with "So about last night".  I had to get them together so I could play Trespasser.

Save the Chargers, romance the 'Vint, couldn't be more pleased with my game canon.

Gee, thanks a million for this. I can now continue my story normally THEN attempt in winning Bull for Dorian. And not the other way around (which got me whinning in frustration while looking at the clock and screamed "just hook up already, you two!" Over and over.. fortunately I have an understanding husband XD sorry dear)

This.  I played JoH before the end game with my most current inquisitor and had Bull, Dorian and Sera in my party and was not trying to actively get their romance but it happened within a couple of hours of active play (that is, me actually doing quests and stuff, not me running around trying to get the dialog to pop off).  Sera, being an ass Sera, made a point of laughing at them both.  But still, it was cute.  I'll have to see how things change in Trespasser on this game.

It's heartwarming to see the lengths people will go to to get Dorian and Bull to hook up. We really are rooting for them!
