Do you eat Kangaroo meat? It must be quite available there.

I sure do. It's delicious. Especially marinated. Full of protein and other good stuff, it's considered a "super food".

Unfortunately it is very expensive in Europe and difficult to get. It is the one thing I am envious of in Oz.

So, after getting rid of a nasty virus I got for being stupid I'm back

I read every post and made use of every suggestion (thank you all) and I'm happy to say that I'm finally managing the combat a little better. I lowered the difficulty (playing on normal now) and I'm using mods to make the game a little easier (more faded touched and more loot minimal). I'm using Elhanan tactics, making advantage of the tactical cam to keep Solas out of the heat of the fight, Cass is now using Warcry and Challenge whenever possible and I also crafted some stuff for my team. Also, as suggested, I'm investing on passive/defensive skills rather than offensive (as I normally tend to do), so combat now is bearable. Not fun, not enjoyable, but, at the very least, bearable.

If combat keeps getting into my way I'll lower the difficulty again, as Bhryaen suggested - I've convinced myself I'm in for the story, not for the combat nor for the challenge.

My other complaints still stand, but I'm forcing myself to see them as mere nuisances on my way to beat the game instead of something that drives me away from it. Unfortunately I don't see myself playing DAI more than once, especially if I have to go casual (what I think I will)

I still haven't gone to Val Royeaux because I couldn't play the game for the past few days and, when I finally got control of my PC again, I wanted to try all your suggestions. But I'm going now

Yeah,I picked up DAI months after release (after game of the year etc),read the reviews, watched a bit of youtube etc and I can't recall anyone picking up the vast difference in direction.......it's definitely some thing I'll be aware of next time, same goes for the next Mass Effect.Bioware games certainly aren't auto buy's like they used to be.

That's exactly what I intend to do. So help me the Maker, no matter the hype I will not jump on MEA and DA4 as I used to.

You are so early in the game, that I think you'll find that a little later on - especially if you keep crafting equipment of you and your peeps, on normal difficulty at least, they - including Solas - survive just fine, without being micromanaged. I hardly ever use the tactical camera, and pretty much only control my main char, intervening only infrequently with the others. They don't always act that smart in battle, but with a little beefing up from crafted gear, and the appropriate tallents/spells, they mostly do fine.

Still, would LOVE the DA:O/DA2 style control over companion tactics.

I think the key to enjoying DA:I, and it's combat for me, was to stop thinking in terms of party combat, and start thinking of my party more like the hanger-on aid you had in Skyrim. Pretty much the only fights where I use the tactical camera is dragon fights, and some major boss fights, where I tend to use it to direct my squishy chars to keep their distance from the enemy.

Also, as I mentioned earlier, I think you'll find yourself more invested in the story, after Val Royeaux, AND the next main storyline quest after that, so I recommend doing both of those, one following very soon after the other.

Lol sorry about that Virus lol be careful on what ya click on now a days .

Your honestly over thinking the combat in inquisition. It is not hard AT ALL. I play Hard as if it was casual. Don't play it as a strategic game as you would with DA:O or think of the tactics menu they have in Inquisition as the one in DA:2

There are simple NO an I repeat NO tactics in this game lol. If you want to make things easier in combat. (DONT U DARE GO TO CASUAL) because you really do maybe need to play the game one or two more times to find everything an do everything.

But to make things easier send in Cassandra, Bull, or Blackwall into fights first. Make sure to get the 10% defensive buff perk form Cullen an remember to get good armor. That's about it honestly. Theres nothing wrong with getting offensive skills but some passive skills just don't really help anyone. Like the Storm bringer doesn't help. Some of the ice Passives don't help.

What Class are yo playing as?

Are you playing with a pad or with K/M? As DW rogue is a horror on most tactics systems and requires pretty much constant control.
