We've had a camp.
We've had a city house which pretended to elegance.
We've had a cool castle.

In DA4, I'd like to have a city house with true elegance for a change. For instance, an Imperial-style atrium house with a formal garden and some fountains and statues, something far from Skyhold's weighty austerity and as far from a camp's simplicity, something sophisticated and luxurious.

What kind of base would you like to have in DA4?

A house like hideout would be cool, especially if we're in the City

I'd like to have something a little grittier. Maybe not as dirty as the Hanged Man in DA2 but something like that. Underground, back room type stuff.

My vision for what DA4 should be is the opposite of DAI; DAI is very high and mighty, and is built around reinforcing the status quo, protecting the powers that be, and opposing change and chaos.

DA4 should be about tearing the status quo down and taking a sledge hammer to the machine. It should be about revolution, rebellion, and change. That's what I want to be; an agent of change.

And I would want our hub base to reflect that.

Perhaps one that can be expanded and improved over the entirety of the game; from small hovel to regal estate.

^This, is definitely what we need.

A rag-tag band of outlaws and exiles, to topple Tevinter from within, from their bat-cave beneath the city.

Seedy, hidden, thieves guild type place underground or in a hidden back room of a disreputable establishment.

One where we can make additions that are actually practical.  Ones that have some actual meaning.

For real tho, I want something smaller, like Hawke's mansion but with the customization of Skyhold. I also want knick-knacks. Like souvenirs from adventures or gifts from friends. Preferably click-able but that's not a must. They should keep the visual representation of progress though. Moving from Gamlen's shack to the mansion, from Haven to Skyhold. That was nice.

I'd like to see a hideout based in the sewers of Minrathous, possibly like The Ragged Flagon from Skyrim.

A pirate ship!

^ This.

In my dreams, DA4 is set around Antiva/Rivain and involves lots of intrigue with Crows, the Felicisima Armarda, and the Qunari with a ship as your base of operations and nautical combat mechanics, sort of like in Assassin's Creed Black Flag.

I don't have a specific preference for what I want, but what I do NOT want: a camp. I wasn't too crazy about the whole camping thing in DAO, but of course it was necessary.

However if they're going to keep crafting in a similar fashion for the next game then I imagine we will have somewhat of an actual base again, or at least a fully-functional city with a blacksmith, tanner, tailor, alchemist, and so on. This actually would be quite fun and heavily remind me of Neverwinter Nights in that regard.

I think the stylish city estate could be combined with the Batcave analogue to result in something truly awesome:

Imagine the city estate of an upper-class but unremarkable citizen of Minrathous, maybe a rich merchant or a mage who doesn't bother with politics, who is often absent and has his or her house and gardens maintained by servants or magic. So nobody who passes finds it remarkable to see little activity, but also no one thinks to pay that house specific attention if things start to get a bit more lively now and then.

Our protagonist gets to inherit this estate as part of a plot involving some breaking and entering and forgery of official documents, maybe even some killing, knowing that the placid appearance masks extensive underground facilities which could serve any number of secret activities, with secret exits to the sewer systems, arcanist and alchemical labs etc.., This could serve as the home of a diverse bunch of would-be revolutionaries, with the only condition that our protagonist must be able to present an acceptable picture of an upper-class citizen in order to mix with Imperial society without attracting unwanted attention.

I can picture this very well in my mind.

This might sound like a petty concern, but one of the things I disliked about the DAO camp was all of the followers standing around in the same area. And well... for the romance scenes I feel that it took away some of the intimacy -- there is even banter where some remark about hearing your sex romps. So... yeah.

For both DA2 and DAI I liked that each follower had an area that was appropriate for them, and with DAI specifically that you could see some of them moving around and such. This made scripted cutscenes particularly engaging and more personal.

I would really like something that truely grows and changes over time, like was talked about for DAI before the game came out and things were cut.  Something that to a degree would be unique for every gamer, whether that be choices made in dialogue, or in some sort of architectural crafting mode.  I would also like to have options as to where the base would be located.

I dare say we could co-author our own DA4 and run into relatively little dispute. You sound like you have a very similar vision as I do.

I always pictured some darkly elegant house, because Tevinter. But that wouldn't make much sense in... a lot of scenarios.

I kind of like the idea of an inn/tavern HQ, like in NWN2. Everybody either hung out at the bar or had their own room upstairs. It depends what sort of role we play, honestly.
