Just out of curiosity, would you guys rather have one race option with many customisable parts to the character or varied race options but with less customizability?
I feel like playing as a single race there's lots more the devs can provide the player in RP and customisable options in appearance, armor, etc. There's more focus and all efforts are put into that one playable character. Perhaps even crafting us origin stories we can play ?
With varied race options, resources are spread thin. Every race is less customisable. They can't fully commit to all races. However, it is definitely cool to see these varied races, plus it changes things up for more play throughs.
What are your thoughts about the future protagonist of Dragon Age?

I'm a Dwarf guy.  And no way in hell the next Dragon Age game will have an only Dwarf option, so multi race is the only way forward IMO.

Plus they've already done human only, Mass Effect is human only.  So that would mean if they went one race with Solas being the focal point of the next game, or at least his plan, it's possible they could decide to make that one race, and Elf ugh.

Varied race options, since I like being able to make a dwarf, elf, qunari, and human, despite being a different race not affecting much.

I'd only agree to having one race option so long as it isn't a human, seeing as how we already did that with Hawke in DA2.

I'd rather have human, elf, and dwarf. If DA4 is against the qunari, as it seems to be, then having one of them would break immersion.

I doubt it since having only Hawke outraged a lot of people. I think what will change though is we will get City Elves instead of Dalish based on what Dorian said.

No, because we all know "one race" means "human only"... and frankly there are not enough NOPES in the world for that. Once was enough.

IMO, varied race options, with reactivity and story content for all.

Yeah, this. There is no way in hell that they'd lock us into any race except the one played by 80% of people in both DAO and DAI, and it's the race I find least interesting to play.

Races. Hawke had absolutely no body customization. So that argument is kinda irrelevant.

Why's everyone making comparisons to Hawke? This is a brand new dude already in an established setting. Just because Hawke didn't work doesn't mean this won't. Given the proper time and care it's possible. Also this is next gen, I'm there's lots they can do if they don't have limitations of other races.

If they didn't do body customization the first time there's no reason to assume they will the second time...

Also, i freaking love elves so Ima vote for race selection, regardless of any potential body customization.

Well, if we do get varied race options we better receive a better intro than in Inquisition. It was nice hearing about Adaar's mercenary band on the wartable or the Lavellan's clan (when it was not getting slaughtered) but I would have liked such words more if we had met the people beforehand. It takes time and resources, and a skilled development to integrate it all, but I am hopeful that the developers will consider it.

If we end up in the same cell, it better at-least be with different clothes.

I hate playing as human, I will choose anything else over human (seriously, I'll take a freaking psychic Mabari or sentient shovel over a human) so if a forced race protagonist was a non human then I'd be on board, if it was a human (which it would be) I wouldn't want it. Having race choices again after the forced human protagonist of DA2 was the thing that made me buy Inquisition in the first place. I had been disappointed by DA2 and ME3 and was extremely wary of DA:I but I told myself "if they bring back race choice I'll buy the game no questions asked" and I did.

Nah. Hawke was not especially more varied than the humans can be in either Origins or Inquisiton. I like being able to approach the story from different angles that race and background provide.

I would like both. Races and customization.

I didn't like the fact that if we were an elf in DAI we would automatically be a dalish elf.

I honestly would like to have human only with full custom options. I like playing human female but I also know other people like to be elves or dwarves and qunari. So I think muti race is the way to go. That said, I really want to be a city elf. I don't like the dalish much anymore (thanks horrible mutiplayer keeper and your awful voice and attitude).

I think stick to one or two races, Its nice having options but I'd really like to see what BW could do RPing and customization wise when they don't have to worry about four races(DA2 don't count in my book as an example of what BW can do with one race cause it only had a year to be made) and with frostbite engine(by the time DA4 comes out they should have frostbite figured out).

I think Multiple races are a must going forward, Tho i do think the Qunari race should be dropped. I believe the adding of Qunari in DAI was what caused some of the games features to be removed, since Qunari was added so late into development,

As others have said. Multiple races allows the player to approach the story from multiple angles.

If they ever do one race, I would like the option to have different backgrounds to choose from.

The four races can be found all over Thedas, with qunari being the rarest. It's only in Kal-Sharok and Orzammar that you mostly just find one race, dwarves.

I wouldn't mind a stand-alone DLC (like Leliana's Song) where you play as a single race to explore some background or lore. I would like to have a DLC where one plays as a true Qunari, so we can see what it is like to grow up in the Qun. I don't think that would work as a full game anytime soon.

I think the reason we only had Hawke in DA2 was because it was a way of introducing us to DAI. If you play DA2 again and its DLC after DAI, you see things begin to come together. Just a small add-on to prepare you for something bigger, that also grew big enough to have 3 Acts and 3 DLC.

Races. One race (which will just be human) is not going to be fully customizable and all that jazz that some people seem to think, afterall Shepard and Hawke where in fact very restrictive.

What Bioware nbeeds to do however is improve dwraves and qunari, as only elves come near humans in temrs of content and care.

No, putting the game on last gen is what did that.
