I killed the black dragons in town. I went to their cave and cleared it out. When I came back to West Harbor, the gate was closed. I wanted to turn in the shawl. So, I exited town and went in through my trade post. When I exit the post into town, no one is there except Quarrel. And the gate is still closed. So now I am stuck in town.

try this. It should warp your party to the nearby WorldMap.

Thanks, that worked.

However, is West Harbor supposed to "return to normal" at some point?

(BTW this game is incredibly buggy. Just crashed to desktop after being attacked through a wall and half my party ignoring direct 'attack' command.)

the OC is buggy as sn*t

MotB is total redemption in that regard (and others) tho. and I think that's the end of West Harbor's role ... [edit] SoZ is between the two others.

make sure you have directX 9.0c installed

Nah, I still have a quest to turn in. Plus the fact that you can zone in to your trade outpost, and then not be able to leave except through console hacks is a bug.

I have both exp packs installed, it's still buggy as ****. Bard songs only fire about half the time, party members cannot attack unless I explicitly path them to the enemy, etc.

It's a shame because there is a really good game buried under all the bugs. SoZ has a lot of interesting ideas in the trade networks and overland map aspects. It's just too frustrating when I tell people to attack or cast a spell and they just stand there like idiots. Had to just ragequit because I told my druid to summon his animal companion 3 times and he just wouldn't do it.

It's 1.023. Is that what you mean? I got it on Steam, so I just assumed it was the latest version.

y, that's the one

If you haven't installed TonyK's Companion and Monster AI v2.2, I advise it ... am pretty sure Tony did the final version of the official AI and the download is stuff he felt needed completion later, /shrug

Might have a little corruption in the downloaded files. I got a new copy fully patched from GOG last winter and have played through three of the four official campaigns with only one quest disrupting bug.

I ran the "verify files" process in Steam and it found two possibly corrupt files, but then didn't seem to download them... I guess I should probably uninstall it then download it again in one shot without pausing to prevent any corruption from resumed downloads. Anyway, thanks for the replies, hopefully I can get it working properly at some point.
